Rotten flesh is actually quite usefull if you don't have any other food or you don't wan't to waste your other food sources. It regenerates 2 lambchops on your hungerbar and that you'll be hungry faster is not really a problem either if you have much of it and you most likely will have enough after the first night. Even before that night, the food you find on your chest route should keep you going until then.

The Trick with rotten flesh is the number. 1 Rotten flesh regenerates 2 Hearts, but the stamina poisoning deletes 2 Hearts. All in all, it is a zero calculation, good for regenerating Health. But: if you eat 2 rotten flesh quikly, you are gonna loose 2 Hunger while regenerating 4 hearts ore more. This can be very usefull. And a little tip: Raw chicken can cause stamina poisoning too. It regenerates 1 1/2 Hunger. If you suffer from poinoning, eat rotten flesh or chicken. Veeeeeery usefull.

Can I add a tip? I'm unsure about this "Tip" But it usually helps
Tip: If you are sure someone is using mods/hacks try to avoid them. Unless you are sure you can get them before the hacks get you...
Tip: If you see someone with better tools nearby you but they don't know where you are. Get higher ground and sneak. It's better if they don't know where you are instead of wasting forty minutes getting chased.
