No sound in MC 1.6

So I got on my new computer But alas, there is no sound whatsoever. Yes turned up the sound (no music either, nothing) and no it's not muted. Any help?

Try googling it, this happened to my mac and I had to download a different resource package.

Okay i'm on the same system and don't seem to be having any problems.
Is it just minecraft sounds? maybe a cord's loose
Otherwise make sure you've turned the sounds up on the menu of minecraft.
Other than that there is only you're computer volume which should be fine if you're able to listen to music/youtube.
Is minecraft actually crashing when you try and turn the music/sounds up on minecraft menu?

This happened to me when i bought a new PC, I restarted my minecraft and tried another resource pack, my advice to you it to try re-installing minecraft back to its default setting. You could have messed with a setting or two that would have prevented you from hearing sound.

Yes, or a mod. I found that it didn't work with default, sphax and it only started working when i used Faithful 32 x 32.

Also, don't forget to check your mixer if you are on a pc, sounds unnecessary, I know, but in the past I have forgotten that I turned down minecraft in the audio mixer, and that caused trouble later. If you have a headset, check to see that that is working also.

Hey, when I got my new computer I had the same issue, I think the problem is that your sounds are not downloaded yet. I just waited in a singleplayer world, like 15 minutes, and the sounds were back on. I hope this can help you
