Hello everyone my name is Dave. I am currently on my way to majoring in Computer Science (going to be a sophomore in the fall) and would love to know the experience anyone has had while studying computer science. How was it in the beginning? Did you always want to study it? Ever had any doubts? What were you expecting and what actually happened? What were you capable of coding (after 1 year, 2 years and on) and anything along these lines. I just want to know what other people went through since I don't know anyone near me that has actually went through with Computer Science. This won't sway my decision but thought I should know what others have to say.

Well welcome to the club as I was going for a CS degree as well. The thing is with computer science, it is such a broad degree as it covers almost everything about computers with some computer programming (unless you focus on that area). I am really not the best programmer, but I been working on computers for most of my life focusing on network infrastructure. Really, with CS, you need to find something you like to do and then focus on it. Look into getting certifications like your A+ or N+ on top of your degrees as your employers will love seeing you went far and above most people fresh out of college. GL with your education career!

Well I am currently a Freshman taking CS as my major and I have to say that I am not attending the best school for Computer Science and I have only taken one semester of it. The professor was very hard to understand and the class is all about Java Programming and that is the primary focus. I still plan on keeping my major and will be very interested next semester about a new teacher and hopefully learn a lot more.

@ChadTheDJ Thanks for the response. I'm probably going to focus on programming since it is what I love doing. For now its nothing specific but I guess I'll find out as I go along my courses. Some people have told be about looking into those certifications so I guess I should really look into that.

@Firedog150 Luckily I got a professor that made the class quite simple for everyone but without making it boring for those who knew the basics (I had a bit of "programming" experience before getting into the class.) We focused on C++ since that is the standard of the school but he would use Java for a lot of the examples in class. My final project ended up being in Java.
