Looking to purchase/build a computer.

Would if not be worth getting 8GB or faster RAM rather than 16GB as I'm predominantly gonna be playing minecraft on it...I don't need enough for shaders or whatever

I really have no idea, my knowledge of computers is quite limited, if someone could answer this I would also appreciate it

Really, when I get it will be a few months, I will probably look elsewhere before that.

When it comes to ram, quantity VS. Speed depends on what you're planning on doing.

If you are using Photoshop or other programs that need to dump loads of stuff to the ram, then you want more. (And relatively fast if possible.) Otherwise you want fast ram.

My suggestion would be go get nothing below 8GB and nothing slower than 1600MHz. If your motherboard can support faster ram, get it.

Ram is getting cheaper and cheaper so by the time you buy, you could possibly get yourself 8GB 2100MHz for a reasonable amount

1333/1600/1800/2100
Where it talks about the ram.

I don't think anything higher than 2GB will make a difference in minecraft unless you are using shaders and HD texture packs, even then I'm not positive.

I'd still say stick with 8GB unless you plan on using the Adobe suite, Vegas, or some other professional program. Because it will just be a waste of money otherwise.

What exactly would you do with the remaining 12 GB? The system I don't think is going to use more than 1GB under normal circumstances, and skype and teamspeak probably don't use very much. Chrome is a memory hog but 8 should suffice.
