Optifine

I downloaded and installed OF a few days ago. Now before that I was running MC completely fine and smoothly, I just got talked into getting OF. So after a couple hours of gameplay, I noticed my frame rate suddenly dropping then coming back suddenly, causing me extreme lag for a few moments. Now after about 3 days, I noticed my MC lagging like crazy.

So basically Im just wondering, is OF causing the lag, is it my CPU or is it just the servers?

Define lag, do you mean FPS lag where your mouse goes all jerky, or server/internet lag where it takes ages before your text appears in chat, players move very jerkily, and the server seems to take ages to process your clicks in chests etc?

Did you install the right kind of OF for your computer? You realize if your computer can't handle the version you got, it's lags like crazy.

Players move very jerkily, and my MC actually crashes sometimes, my mouse does jerk. But I think its just my mouse.

Use a different Optifine version.

In that case it sounds like something that your optifine did, to cause lower FPS. I would try another version of it, or remove it totally.

I use the Normal version, not the Ultra and I'm running really good, not a single lag spike.

Yeah, I believe the Chunk Loading option is what's making you lag a bit since it interferes with the chunks in Minecraft a bit. Glad to help.
