hello ive been trying to connect to your servers for a while, and i keep getting failed to connect to server unknown host. i would really appreciate some help

Are you sure that you have followed this process correctly, because this is what fixes that error message.... the oly other answer is that you are not typing in the IP correctly.

ok i did the guide, and now it is saying that my connection is timing out

There is still hope, some thing you could try:
If you have hamachi, deinstall it.
Try chaning your DNS server.
Try it from a different computer and/or internet connection.
I hope one of these thing helps you. Without closer problem description this is the most I can help you.
