Hi everyone, I've decided to make this thread with some tips for newer players as MCSG is a ever growing community and there are still many new/noobish players on these servers.

Joining a Server:

I've seen many complaints on the forums about donors kicking people and not being able to get into servers, so here are some methods to get into servers.

Join During 'Cleanup'

When a server is resetting, join when it says 'Cleanup' and you will often be among the first people in.

Join Latter Servers

Try joining higher numbered servers as donors often try to get into lower numbered servers. So if you play on us servers try joining servers 30-50 instead of 1-20.

Join Different Region Servers

Try to join servers for different regions as they will likely fill less quickly as it's likely 3 PM might be midnight for them.

Strategy:

Strategy is important when playing Survival Games. If you do not have a route and do not have a good understanding of minecraft pvp you won't last very long.

Getting a Route:

Having a route is essential to getting necessary items to survive on MCSG, your route must have a variety of tier 1 and tier 2 chests, allowing you to get fully equipped with armor weapons, and food.
Go into a game already playing in spectator mode, or stay logged in when you die in a game. Then, starting at corn search around for a decent route of chests and try to follow it and extend upon it whenever you can. You can also find most of the MCSG maps for download and load it up yourself to have a look around. Another option is watching YouTubers and watching their routes, I would suggest Blamphe for this.

PVP Skills:

Refining your PvP skills is a must to be any good at MCSG.
Play on PvP servers such as Roxbot or oc.tc often, refining your skills. Also watch videos showcasing tips on such things such as Blamphe's videos or TodaysMarriedGamer's 'Survival Games Tips' video.
Strafe to the side while fighting to avoid their hits. Jump while hitting opponent to get critical hits.
Sprint Jump to catch up with opponent faster. Right click on armor in your hand while none is equiped to auto-equip it.

Defeating Teams:

Teams killing you got you down? Don't fret! Here are some great ways to kill teams!
Focus your hits on one individual of the team it is much easier than spreading your hits out across both giving each a chance to regenerate health.
Use flint and steel. Lots of it! Save that iron sword for later if a team is coming your way, flint and steel is the best weapon against teams (imo).
Use plenty of arrows. Use your bow and arrows whenever possible, its the best way to do damage to your opponent without taking any yourself.

Follow the Rules.

There is already a list of rules on the forums so I'm not going to go too into it here but here are some basic things you should know.

Respect the Mods.

Don't Spam.

Don't Hack. (obviously)

Don't Swear.

Don't Exploit Glitches.

Be Respectful.

Very nice.
Even though its essentially a combination of numerous already existing threads, and a lengthened post on the one Nate made, it's still very well done and I definitely respect that.
Nice job, Kor.

Good job! But shouldn't this be in the Strategies section?
