I do agree about age only half exposing maturity... but you guys have to think, why. Why are you so eager to become moderators? It's usually only to help out the community - or the perks and bragging rights.

Generally, if it's the second then the answer is obvious. If you want to lend a hand to help the community there is no different then recording and reporting then it is to moderating, as they must go through a similar process from what I heard. The only difference is the ability to take action upright, which isn't necessary - if we wanted absolutely every problem dealt with we'd need 106, heck over 2,500 more moderators to deal with everything.

Except, at the moment they only need a few moderators. The age limit and other set rules are secondarily there to reduce too many applications. The rule has got nothing to do with maturity in the end.

TL;DR: There is no difference from reporting and moderating. The age limit isn't a rule for more mature moderators - but to limit the amount of applications. They don't want to go through even more applications. xD

i applied for mod but was denied for being 13, so whenever i see someone spamming or something i tell them to stop and they say "Your just a donor, you can't do anything." so i poke a mod on TS. i had to do it like 20 times once and i could tell the mod was annoyed

The alternative is you take a picture and make a Report Abuse thread, that way they wont be annoyed with you.

I've encountered some people with amazing levels of commitment and skill that would be a perfect candidate for moderator once they're of age, e.g. Korrenian. I've known him for a while now and I do know that he would make a great moderator but he's simply not old enough based on the responsibilities he would inherit by being promoted to moderator. I cannot honestly say exceptions to the 15 year old rule need to be made to be fair to people like Korrenian because of the numerous reasons I've stated in this post and many before in this very thread. In conclusion, exceptions to the rule of age shouldn't be made as younger individuals simply lack the maturity*
to fulfill their duties as a moderator. Got a quick bite back for you there Aellios. Tell this to Tironas.
Hmm maybe this wasn't the best way to phrase this. Gimme another shot. If you say that younger people simply lack the maturity to carry out the tasks that a moderator has to deal with. Then why has Tironas11 done a good job at being mod. I simply just find this a pointless statement to make on your end.

In my opinion, I think the mod app age should stay the way it is. But I think very FEW exceptions could be made if someone underage sends an amazing moderator app, plus has an amazing interview. Its true, there are MANY immature 14 year olds and below. I admit it, i used to be that way. I like the way Korrenian is thinking. He is probably making better points then 75% of the people ABOVE the age limit for mod. I think he should be given a chance. In the end, its all the admins and sr.mods decisions but I really do think that some kids act a lot older than their age.

I have been on MCSG for 3 months now, and I think the age limit is reasonable, lets say I wrote a mod app, and I get accepted (Im 13 by the way) (hypothetically) I would NOT want to be mod, I feel that 14 and below, do not have the maturity required to be a mod, some do. Ill give you that. But most of them lack maturity, and they have ruined this opportunity for you. But I dont see why you cant be patient and wait 2-3 years? you will have more experience more maturity AND be a better mod overall. I know im going to apply for mod in 2-3 years, It is an amazing opportunity to gain some responsibility and to help out a community. Remember a good mod also has patience :p, wait 2 years then apply!
I realize this is a while from when this thread was made but ... MCSG still running in 2 - 3 years?
