So ever since I've gotten back into MCSG recently, I've been trying to gain up more points, it adds purpose and fun to the games, and provides incentive for getting more kills.
Lately, however, after getting into the late 200's in points, I realized something: It's HARD to get points. REALLY hard. Unfairly hard.
If you didn't really know how it works, here it is in a nutshell: The fewer points you have, the fewer points you lose when you die. The more points you have, the more points you lose when you die. And (I believe, I might be wrong) the number of points you lose is the number of points the person who kills you then receives. This might be wrong, but if it is wrong, the actual system is very similar to this.
But this system doesn't work. Lets look at 3 types of players: The noob will always lose, and will lose, say, 5 points on death. He never wins and seldom gets a kill, so his total points dwindle in the low 30s (NOTE: MOST players that I see fall under the NOOB description).
The average player gets in some kills sometimes, wins a few games, but sometimes loses immediately. He will lose 10-20 points on death, and more often than not can only kill 1 or 2 noobs before dying, thus resulting in net loss of points most often. The average players points are around 150-350, constantly changing (I am an average player, under this description).
And then there's the super player. He has points in the 1000s, When he dies, he leaves a nice present, up to 100 points to his killer. But that's the problem: He rarely dies. So there are a few rich people with TONS of points at the top, who are really good. But almost everyone else is stuck at the bottom, barely able to get points. And even when someone DOES gain this 100 point present, they are bound just to lose it soon because then they'll lose more points on death.
Basically, my problem is this: As you gain more and more points, it gets harder to gain more and more points. The more points you have, the more points you lose.
I understand that most of you reading this are really into MCSG, and therefore really good, so you may see no problem. But this is what I can see. So what do you think? Is this system flawed?
