Fishing Rod - Change of Purpose

I for hate the current use for fishing rods and would love that change

My reasoning for this change is mainly the water fights. When you're chasing someone in the water, you can easily pull them towards you and kill them. This will discourage water fights and make games less frustrating.

Make it so you can pick the use of the fishing rod when you accquire it Pull or push

No, that would be a bit of a pain, just maybe if you left click or right click it does different things?

I have already invented a method of using them for combat purposes without a special plugin for it. I see no reason to change it.

I'd also hate to have it pull them to me. The entire reason I use them right now is to get them away from me and knock them backwards, not pull them towards me. xD

Doesn't matter who used it first, people have been knocking other people away in the water with the fishing rod when there was only map 1. I started using it on other servers way before MCSG even came out and I'm not the type of person that knows the game in and out, so obviously I wasn't even the first. What else did you think you invented?

Knocking people back in the water isn't combat purposes, that's safety, defense purposes - I'm talking about land battles where you knock the opponent back with just the right timing to make yourself near impossible to hit. (Impossible in some circumstances, but it's almost just as impossible to make it be impossible.)

I've never, ever, in my two years of the game (a long time for this game.), seen people use the fishing rod the way I do now - at least not until I started doing it. A majority of people I ask now when they use it say they picked it up from me, or somebody else who picked it up from me.

They are both combat purposes, are they not? I used them both on land and in water and before you were even established at MCSG. I don't even know when you started playing this game, because you weren't even heard of when I played (summer to fall), I came back and you came out of nowhere, so you're not even in the position to claim you invented anything. Unless you're going by halfsquirrels logic...

well if we go by that logic, then I (and many others) invented the 180 bow shot, a fully charged arrow, the fishing rod knockback (land and water), sprint jumping, F5ing to look behind, lighting people on fire, and crafting mushroom stew without a crafting table. Cool.

I use it, lots of people use it D:
Fishing rods can knock people back and when you run into a fight you can stun and destroy

Not only this but when someone is running around the cornucopia on a map such as Breeze, it's useful to knock them off course so that you can catch up to them.
Essentially it can be used to stun, knock people into obstacles and push then outwards
mjwick taught a ton of EU players this technique months ago
