I lag out on specific maps?

On a ton of larger scale maps(Sg5, Kingdom, Ancient Japan for example) my minecraft lags extremely hard and then I end up crashing... Does anyone have any insight on whats causing this and any possible fixes?

Do you have the Optifine mod? If you don't, install it, it increases your FPS by 100-200 percent. If you already do, then yes, turn it down more.

Optifine definitely helps. Also, the HD texture support and zoom is nice. You can actually change the way chunks load with optimize, which is nice.

What it probably is, is all those maps you listed have lots and lots of unique blocks and half slabs and snow layer blocks cause some lag, It also could just be the size of the maps thats causing you to lag. It also could just be your computer. But here are some suggestions to help out.

-Allocate more memory to Minecraft (see YT for more help on how to)
-Optifine really helps out and usually doubles Minecraft FPS
-Play on small render distance
-Smooth lightning off
-Fast graphics

All of these methods have been known to help in in some way or another with mine craft FPS. Hope this helps
