Me being a veteran of the servers (2012-now) and an active forums member i personally feel I have got a good idea on what mcsq will be like in the future.
Ok now, I could be wrong, but this thread is 100% up for debates and questions so don't be afraid to speak your mind about the situation in the comments. (Keep the memes away from this thread please)
Will it die?
If you look at the mcsq minecraft server you can see it very well moderated can't you? A theory I have is that so many people are going to quit from being banned, you can get banned for abuse or ddoss threats and screamer links which shouldn't be the case. At the most you should perm mute but when you think about it why should someone not be able to play the game when there not messing up the gameplay like hackers who deserve to get permed off the servers. There messing up the chat box and that's why they shouldn't be banned whatsoever. Of course there are going to be scum block nerds who want to use auto clicks and hack clients etc, which means more people being banned off the server.
Another factor of mcsq in the future is people are quitting because of so called "corruptness". If you look at the threads some people write in the community corner you will see people quitting because of hackers and teamers. I don't think quitting because of hackers and teamers is very fair as they are part of the game and have been since the day mcsq was made. Some things we just have to deal with but some others just can't and they won't play because of that reason.
People are bored of the game. I quit 2 months ago but I'm still active on the forums. I quit because I don't have that tryhard attitude like I used to back in mcsq prime. My stats in mcsq prime were 500/2300 but then they dropped to 1000/5500. I can't say I'm the only one who is still here because of the community. I was only dragging on my last 200 wins because I was into the community. The game wasn't as interesting as it used to be and I will never feel the same way about the game as I did in 2013.
Will 1.9 save, kill or make no difference to mcsq?
1.9 is going to have majorly different PVP aspects then 1.8 and 1.7. It is hard to say what the community will think of it yet because it hasn't came out but people may like the PVP change as a form of new content to enjoy for a extended time. Or this new content could not ever be as good as 1.8 and 1.7 and either keep the game steady or drop the player count.
Will it carry on?
Chances are that there isn't going to get any more players then there are now but could it live on and stay up?
The servers could most definitely stay up because of these few reasons.
Clans have been around for ages and are competitive and fun. If you go onto the clans section it always looks so active and lively with a lot of the community chipped in on it. Leaderboards are created to make clan battles easier and more organised and especially for competitiveness. Clans could keep the game from being dead.
MCSG MAKER!!! I haven't played it yet but from what I've head it strikes a lot of new possibilities and desired content that players are interested in. We definitely needed new content but sg solo obviously wasn't enough. Mcsg maker was a genius idea to have endless possibilities of fun and laughs with your mates and that is exactly what we want at the end of the day. Fun!
Conclusion
I am not sure where mcsq will be taken but for sure it is a topic to get your head thinking. Tell me and and the rest of the community where you think the game will be taken in the future.
Thanks for reading
