How exactly does Bounty work?

I recently played a game and after a few minutes, 1000 bounty was set on me. In death match, i let my friend kill me but he did not relieve the points.

A game later, 1800 bounty was set on a player so i hunted him down (cause im a bounty hunter) and killed him. But my points did not go up.

So what i am wondering is: Do i have the system all wrong? or was it a glitch? or do i have to win the game to receive the points?

Thanks

I suspect a glitch. Bounty works like this:
When you die, you can bounty the person who killed you (or any other tribute)
Whoever kills that bountied player receives the points. If the bountied player wins, the bountied points are lost.
Should have received the points if you killed the bountied player.

It works by: Putting bounty on someone is using YOUR points. OUNCE tou have put bounty on someone you CANNOT get those points back. IF the player WINS they get the POINTS that YOU put on THEM. IF they WIN you DONOT get ANYTHING.

Bounties have not worked since the bounty glitch (a way of preventing it from happening again, I believe). Hopefully, however, they will allow bounties to actually take effect again, as the glitch appears to be fixed.

Wrong? Unless I read it wrong.
You bounty your points on a player, The person who kills that player gets your points, If they win, points are wasted. It's not a bet, you effectively waste your points.

This is correct. It is not a bet, but a price you are putting on someone's head in order to get them killed.
