MCSG/MCGamer is a PvP Server. Overtime, it has updated from multiple versions and downgraded as well. Right now, it currently resides in 1.8/1.7. In the future, we all know that 1.9 will soon be released and MCSG will eventually update to it. I can see that many of you are deeply concerned and scared by this update as it will drastically change PvP as it is if it is added.

1.9 will add many blocks and new items such as dual-weilding, quivers, poisonous arrows, etc. Most of you are displeased with this as it could possibly destroy PvP. Already many of you as well are complaining that MCSG should just stick to 1.8/1.7 at the moment. The thing is MCSG will need to update in time; it can't stay behind forever.

1.9 seems interesting in my opinion. We can't always stay behind and so we will have to update once 1.9 is out. As 1.9 is slowly coming out, people are already claiming to be horrible. Sure there may have been some things we don't like in 1.9 snapshots, but it is still in work. Once 1.9 PvP is out, many of the bugs will be fixed by Mojang. When we add 1.9 (and it will happen) there will be a great amount of pleasure and displeasure to many players. My opinion is that MCSG will update to 1.9, after that we should give it a month at least to try it out, see how we can corporate it into Survival Games and the other gamemodes, and see what can stay, and what can leave. If the community is heavily against it, we could always remove 1.9 from Survival Games and just have 1.9 in the other gamemodes for new blocks and stuff.

1.9 is a Combat Update, yet most people are already claiming it will end PvP. My opinion is that it will make PvP more interesting, but we can't judge it based on the cover, we can only accurately judge it when 1.9 is released.

Was this just to inform other players or are you asking what they think? I think 1.9 has potential... Only time can tell what MCGamer will end up doing but as you stated yes MCGamer would have to update because as updates continue to come out they would be left behind other servers that update. Thanks for your opinion on this as I said we must wait and see. I think 1.9 will be interesting... Whether good or bad that is beyond me.

Basically a combination of both. I'm simply stating that 1.9 PvP will have many bugs when it comes out, but we need to give it time for us to adapt to it, and if not, see what gamemodes we can add 1.9 to and what gamemodes we should remove it from if possible.

I'm curious to see if the hit detection is fixed on 1.9.. If it is then it might be a tad OP with Dual Swords..

Yes I agree and I like how you said we will have to adapt to the change whether we like it or not we will have to update sometime we changed back from 1.8 back to 1.7 however changing between 1.9 and 1.8 would be chaotic.
