Soooooo....many people have made threads with what they do to survive...I've decided to make a thread on what I do...since there are different maps i will incorporate certain aspects of each map into my strategies, such as the boat, etc....anyways here i go

For the city map
At spawn, start running before the countdown hits zero. I recommend that you DO NOT go to the cornucopia. I repeat, DO NOT. Instead, start sprinting off in the direction of the village, and head into the house with the pink floor (idk the actual name of it). If you make it there first (which i usually do) you will have 2 small chests and 2 large ones all to yourself. After this, leave and head to the giant tree and claim 2 more chests and some mushrooms....If you've done this correctly you should have about full leather armor and a weapon. If you are a boss at pvp (like me :D ) you should be able to patrol the village until nightfall and kill everyone in your path. In the first night, you have to take a chance. This is the win or lose part of the game right here. Heading back to the cornucopia at the first night will essentially guarantee a victory if you kill off all the competitors. The people heading back to the cornucopia will be the ones to beat, not the noobs hiding from skeletons in a skyscraper. If you do not make back it to the cornucopia at night, you have essentially lost. Someone will have taken all the supplies, and that will make them much harder to kill. You need to take them on before the chests regenerate, when everyone is on mostly even terms in things like armor and weapons. If you win the battle at the first night, you will pretty much win the game. If there is no battle at the first night, consider yourself really lucky...the game is full of noobs. From that point on you should be easily able to put the rest of the match away. After the battle of the first night, do NOT sit on the cornucopia all day. Take all valuable items and leave! Go back to the village, and loot ALL the chests there. You should also find a victim or two. Hunt people down until nightfall, then head back to the corn. Repeat as many times as necessary.

For the original (and better) map
Run for the corn first thing. Remember to start sprinting before the game actually starts. After the initial conflict at the corn, see if you can grab the two chests on the way to the boat. If you got a weapon and or armor, run for the boat. If you didn't, head across the bridge or run to the boat anyways. If you ran to the boat and have a sword, you should be able to get a jump on who ever is in there and kill them. If you are the first one, GRAB ARMOR ONLY AND PUT IT ON. Expect a fight in the next few seconds. If no fight comes, grab the remainder of the gear and head across the bridge. Kill whoever is over there, you WILL have better gear than them. Now you can either run off to the islands, or head back to spawn to kill whoever is camping the spawn. Now mess around in the general location of spawn, killing all who cross you. You don't have to sit on the crafting bench, instead move around the perimeter of the circle, looking for players and nameplates. Come the first night, make sure to win the battle for spawn (as mentioned above) and get all the good gear. Now that you have pretty much won the game, you can feel free to rove the map. Watch out for teams, they will be your only threat. Make sure to always GO BACK to the corn and boat by night...you need to keep the items away from others more than you need them. This should allow you to win the games if you are any good at pvp.

If you don't know where the house with pink floor or the boat is, ASK and LOOK around. You will find it eventually. I've pretty much given away my strategies here, but no matter how many people read this, there will be more who play the survival games who do not.
sry for the imposing wall of text lol...leave a like if it helped...

^ pretty common gameplay and knowledge for 90% of the people that play the hunger games. Hell, I developed this strategy on the first night of Map 2 releasing.

That's actually what most people do, which is why so many people just end up dying at the village (probably more now that you shared it).

Also, going for a chest at the beginning can be completely game changing and it is also relatively low risk since nobody has weapons. Unless somebody gets a stone sword (not very common) and you don't hang around too long, you can usually clear out a chest or two and go on your way.

If you are lucky enough to get a stone sword in your first chest... Kill EVERYONE that you can without chasing them too far. It's better to weed out potential competition while you're in the lead.

As for people dieing at the village...they die there because you kill them. You need to keep your head in the game and use your early advantage of the pink wool house's chests to kill everyone there and take their stuff

5 games in a row - Skipped the corn, ran straight to the left of the village and gathered 3-4 chests, no weapon, no armor. Still managed to kill many and scavenge the corn at night). Much harder.

6th game -Skipped the corn, skipped the stray village chests and went straight to the pink wool. Lots of weapons, lots of armor, easily took over the corn.

7th game - Skipped the corn, roamed the skyscrapers, died.

I have my own route that works pretty darn well, but I'm not going to tell. The good thing about this route is that if a certain thing happens, you can change the route to something else in an instant without there being issues. As for going to the Cornucopia, I always go there and almost always get a chest. It's important that you do go to the corn, because one diamond or piece of armor, or iron ingot can make or break your survival.

I don't go to the corn at the beginning of the second map because I am throwing away the chance at getting a small piece of armor or maybe even a weapon from one chest for a head start in getting to the house with the pink wool, and if i make it, have many chests to myself. Usually if you go to the corn, you will not be the one to get to the pink wool house first, and thus lose the chests. Once i locked a guy in the basement of the pink floor house when he beat me there...thats what you do if you get there second :D
