Cannot Connect to the servers no matter what.

Hello, I didnt want to make an account but I just cant find the answer to my problem. My friends play this server all the time and for the past 4 months I cannot connect to ANY of these SG servers. I have tried everything- re- downloading mine craft, getting rid of opt fine, resetting cookies, even adding the exact DNS codes from the forums. Im am on a Mac os X lion. I am really frustrated by this. Every single time, no matter what- it says Connecting to server........ and nothing else. Then it times out. if ANYONE can help me fix this without me having to delete important files, etc. I would really appreciate it. thanks

I reset it over and over, clearing and flushing... still can't connect
