Hey everyone! Long time craftsman, but first time poster.

I was curious what sort of nerdy stories others in the community have about themselves so I figured I'd start a topic about it. We all come from different walks of life and parts of the world, but we share a love of games and most of us share a love of material within the nerdy medium.

I'll start with a story about Pokemon, in particular a holographic Charizard card. When the trading cards first arrived in the US, I knew as a young Pokemaniac that I had to have them. As I managed to get my hands on my first booster pack, all I wanted was a Charmander but I had the thrilling surprise when I opened the pack and saw that glowing holographic Charizard (which was the rarest card at the time). Immediately I had it protected and mounted in my room and soon word had spread around school and such that I had a legit basic booster Charizard in my possession.

Now for the nerdy part of the story. So I was extremely proud of this card and cared for it deeply. However, my love for it was tested in the most challenging of ways. I received a legit offer of $100 for this single card and, for a young kid growing up in the '90s, $100 seemed an almost unreal amount. But Charizard to me was worth far more than $100 and I simply could not give it up and sell out to the Man. Because Pokemon cards are worth so much more right??

I still have this card in it's case up and to this day. And while it may not be worth $100 anymore, I still can't help my instinctual protection over its rarity. http://imgur.com/SIrwL2i

So what kind of stories do you all have? :)

Anyone who has a PC for gaming, I literally just answered this for you. :D

Personally, I have a nerd story, and that's how I became a nerd.

So way back when my mom had a friend, back then, I was pretty into books and stuff, then my mom's friend got this encyclopedia (which I still have), and I read it like made, over and over and over, and then soon I wanted to read more books, and more, and I started to become this sporadic nerd that knows some stuff, who would take documentaries over anything, who would watch many, many educational youtube channels, who would like school, who would do all these things with not a care in the world who called him a nerd.

To be honest, I'm not really nerdy at all so the closest thing to something nerdy that I own is my smartphone that I managed to get when the only way you could was through some exclusive invite-only system. I don't even know if that's considered nerdy :p Or maybe that I own 4 out of the 6 Gran Turismo games (the first 2 where ps1 only) and I have two copies of one of them. While I have a passion for video games, I never really bothered to acquire something that would really materialize that statement.

Documentaries for sure are my favorite film media. Have you seen any worth recommending recently?
Not really. :( Haven't been watching TV too much recently because my house doesn't have cable anymore, but Shark Week is going on! :D

Hmm, nerdiest thing I own. Probably would have to be the Avengers poster that's currently in my closet. Pretty cool though I guess.

Nerdiest? Hmm, well I don't know about that but I'm sure it wouldn't play over too well if the world knew some of my close friends and I still enjoy playing Wizard101 from time to time. A game like that has been eating away our freetime since we were 9 years old :p
