Alright, most people are going to look at me as a sentimental old fossil, but I'm going to attempt to share the side of the update that I'm on, and it's not the one that most people are on.
(NOTE: Understand that I'm happy the staff team did something to benefit the server, more updates are better than none but I'm just sketchy on this one)
The Return of 1.7
The fact that this poll was held in game wasn't a good sample for everyone in this game. The forums have some people that do not play but come on, and some people very often, these people aren't just looking from an in-game perspective, they understand what happened in the past, and what every change means in the future. At least, the polls could've been together on the forums and in-game, then added up to better represent the population of MCGamer.
1.8 is also a newer version of Minecraft, in the end, you can't stay back forever, plus, the coding that it took to get us to 1.8 was fine with some tweaks, instead of reverting to 1.7, I don't understand why you guys (the staff) would go so far just to think, "Oh, this doesn't work, people don't enjoy it", and go back. Do you see what I'm saying? The way you (again, the staff) stated in the post, it sounded like you just wanted more players, when really, everything that us, the players, complain about is the quality of the community, and the people who can't take change don't help that at all.
In addition, didn't 1.8 mechanics that you wanted to use? Spectator mode…new blocks…different coding, in the end, not changing is a disadvantage, because you are stuck to one canvas.
I know, that was a pretty crummy argument, please tell me what you think and I'll come up with an answer that I forgot to put in.
Solo SG Servers
Alright, the people asked for it, now they get it. Let's see how it goes.
SG Skills? In my mind it should be strategy, knowing the routes, the secrets, not just stacking yourself up on millions of tier twos to go and have a 1v1. There will still be cleanup, there will still be the salty ones, how does Solo SG help all of that? Another thing, it segregates the community even more since lots of people will now be playing on Solo SG. What about MCSG? Will it just become a junkyard, left in the dust just because you wanted to compete with other servers?
Everything else is pretty neutral and helps the server, refocusing game modes I got some clarity that some will be coming back, after the ones here are fixed, I'll rant about that when I get the chance.
