Please keep in mind this is the summer schedule, not school. I am a team swimmer and not a school swimmer because I am homeschooled.
7:00
You wake up to your stupid alarm clock with its usual sounds. BEEP BEEP BEEP! You drag yourself out of your bed and head to the bathroom. You think about doing your hair, and then decide against it. Your going to get in the water anyway. You grab you swimsuit (competition), still wet from the day before, and slip it on.
You pack a towel in your bag and head downstairs.
7:20
You head downstairs groggily, almost slipping down the stairs. You turn on the T.V to your favorite show and head to the pantry. You grab the bag of bagels and slip them into the toaster. They end up half-burned because of you forgetting about them. You sleepily smear cream cheese on them and eat them anyway.
8:00
You finish your bagel and grab your powerade from the refrigerator. You head into the car and wait for the rest of your family.
8:45
You drive to the aquatic center and greet your other teammates who are just as sleepy. You grab your cap and goggles and head the the diving blocks. You groan as you pass the board with the set on it. You coach yells 'GET READY' and prepares to kill you.
9:00
200 S.K.I.P.S warm up. Just great. You jump into the freezing water, momentarily freeze because of the coldness, and then start your swim. Ahh, after 15 minutes your done. You take a look at the preset, 8 100's FR. 3 IM, 3 FR, and 2 choice.
9:30
You start your grueling main-set.
4 400's (1. Kick/Swim by 50 2. Drill/Swim by 50 3&4. Swim fast pace)
3 300's IM (1. Kick 2. Drill 3. Swim)
2 400's ALL OUT (1. FR 2. IM)
10:30
After your killing main set, your coach announces what's supposed to be warmdown.
8 50's FR/BK (FR breathing patterns 3,5,7,9). After that warmdown, you pull yourself out of the pool, most of the time plopping back in because of tiredness.
10:50
You finally climb out and walk yo your bag on the bottom line of the bleachers. (It's hard to explain). You dry off and wait for your parents to stop talking to other swim parents. You talk to your best friends while you wait (Anna, Charlie, you know who you are!) You finally get your parents to take you home. You say bye to your friends and coach, then walk out.
10:55
You make it home (Thank god!). You hop in the shower and wash your hair and your body. You get out of the shower and dry off. You go downstairs and eat, eat, eat. You head back upstairs and flop onto your bed, surfing the web.
And thus, completes the day in the life of a swimmer. (Hopefully there are some swimmers out there who understand swimmer language. Leave your sport and a day in the life of your sport in the replies! Goodbye for now,
