hi guys.
If you haven't seen me around I'm hoogee (in game name).
I'm old but new.


ANYWAYS::::


I started thinking about making my own map a few months ago. I have these wacky and crazy ideas which I cannot put into practice Due to lack of experience.
So far I have used world painter a bit to muck about with terraforming a correctly sized world for an Sg map.
I have read static nightmare's tut on building SG maps but world edit seriously scares me. Plus I have no experience with building deathmatch arenas /cornucopia and this baffles me.
First off do you think this is something I could try first time on my own or do I need to join a build team?
I recognise that building a map is not an easy feat and that it will require a lot of hard work, but I am willing to go through this.
Basically I'm baffled and lost on where to start.
I tried to start a map the other day and I realised how much of a noob I was xD
Any help would be lovely.
PS: I have read a lot of tuts on terraforming/worldedit so please don't link me to them.

Firstly, get a team, making a map alone will drive you crazy. Make sure there is at least one good editor and one exp. builder on ur team. Thats what I think every map maker needs.

Joining a team makes thing so much easier, and joining a large team is a great learning experience for getting yourself familiar with building and such. I'd definitely recommend surrounding yourself with other builders to approach making a map.

Making a map is a lot of effort but realize that you're never alone I would highly suggest joining a build team such as Atlas, Kithex, Invictus, etc. It's worth the experience and it can inspire you as well. Build teams help you improve at building and they're all really nice, consider them your second family

Building is tough but it's not when you have friends around you helping you.

If you're not amazing at building yet, you can pay so that kithex team will help you improve and once they deem you experienced, you are accpeted

They are back but yeah, gotta pay cash unfortunately :/ but if you're not that experienced, try joining small build teams to improve until you can reach the if ones

If I were you, I would look into joining a build team to get some good experience in. TeamElite is a great build team to start your building experiences.

NOTE: I AM NOT A BUILDER, SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS LIKE TO ACTUALLY BULID, THESE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS!

I dunno, I guess you should tool around in single player with small scale builds and then organize something together. Then take a look back, if you get so into the build and you don't realize the overarching theme then it will be messy. Then submit! It usually takes many tries for individuals and even build teams to get a map accepted. If it doesn't, then pick up and continue!
