I've been depressed for quite some time, and I have some methods to temporarily cheer you up if you need them.

Here's some obvious ones:
- Drugs (prescribed)
- Media (sometimes)
- Playing games (sometimes)

Despite doing the above three, I still seem to be unable to constantly stay happy.
Here's a few things that I've noticed help me, personally:

  • Listen to rap/swing/trap and assume you're invincible. If you have the mindset that you're unstoppable and that you're a god, you can do anything. This works well for me, but it may not for others. It's worth a shot.
  • Because depression can seriously eat away any and all motivation you may ever have, getting things done can seem nearly impossible. I recommend watching inspirational YouTube videos under any genre. I prefer things relating to astrology and science. You may have other preferences, I don't know.
  • Try new things. You may already be pestered to do this by your peers, especially if you're like me. You want to stay indoors all day and cry about how miserable your life is. It may be hard to, but force yourself to go places and do things. Go sightseeing, go on vacation, go take a walk. It helps, I promise.
  • Tell someone. The primary reason that depressed people refrain from telling their peers that they are depressed/suicidal is because they want to be left alone. This person can help you, sometimes against your will, but it is a good feeling knowing someone actually cares. I don't know.
I tried.

- Drugs (prescribed or not)
Nononononono these in no way help you, they'll only make your life worse. Only take it if you're prescribed it, but don't go to your doctor saying how you need advil because you feel sick, but really you just want it because you're addicted to it.
Though you may say that it helps with your depression, you'll regret it in the coming years when your health gets affected, making you depressed again. Taking drugs without need will only make your life miserable.

Those who are depressed do not value their lives.
Personally, I'd rather be intoxicated and happy than healthy and miserable.
I desire to die at a young age whilst having lived an entertaining life.

Drugs do not cause depression. Depression causes people to use drugs.
Once they're in that cycle of hopelessness, the depression simply becomes worse.
Ta-da.

*cough, luke lucas, cough*

Needless to say, I agree with this. I've been depressed in my life, but what I did to overcome it is, talking to my parents about it and everything; they supported me he whole way.

There's nothing entertaining about taking drugs. They'll only make it worse. What the label or dealer may say could be utter baloni. All they want is the money, and for you to get addicted to it. That's all. Now tell me how exactly are they going to make you happy? Some of them will blank you out, some will make you high, others will do who knows what. They'll ruin your relationship with your family, they'll bring you into a wrong group of friends, and all they will do is play with your body so that it will always desire to take it. How is that making you happy or entertained? While you could be talking to your parents and having them help you, trying to talk to your friends, or even finding someone you truly love and have him/her comfort you, instead you're taking drugs which completely zones you out from all of those opportunities. Now let's get to the worst. You get involved into illegal business and now you're in jail. No drugs, just you in a tiny cell. Isn't going to be so fun now...
People I've talked to now would ask me what they should do to stay happy if they can't take drugs. Well, luckily you know how to because everything else listed other than the drugs part is a perfect way to kick the depression out!

Yes, being depressed really puts you in a mood where you don't give a crap about what's going on. But you need to remember, drugs and suicide and all that horrible stuff is a a permanent solution to what may only be a temporary thing.

People who have lost all hope will use whatever they can get their hands on.
They may not think of the consequences.
I personally have never done drugs, but I understand why people use them.
