Hello people of MCG, The sixth MCGamer awards are just around the corner.
But can you only win a award if you are popular?
I recon that could be the case. Mooclan is so popular that even if he hasn't posted anything since December, he could win. Yes some people vote on what they have done. But if you aren't popular how can you win. If you don't talk on TS or you have only a couple of friends in the community how do you have a chance at winning? Mooclan is an awesome poster and this is in no way criticising him.

The MCGamer awards will be very good to see. I'm not sure if Mooclan can win this time around. In no way shape or form am I degrading his talent. I just think a lot more talent has come up, some talent have stayed around such as Ceroria and OhFancy and many more, where as some people that missed out last time, like Miner9823, Creepah have a very good chance of taking some sort of award out. I just think this time around, we will see a very different set of forumers nominated for forum-related awards. Which is great! :)

Awesome thread UndeniableZombie. :)

Of course, you have to be known when you want to be a candidate for an award. That's not very weird I think. (Being known doesn't have to mean that you are popular.)

When you want to win, you have to gain votes... You won't get votes when you aren't known.

I think (and honestly hope) that people who are selected as candidate even though they doesn't deserve it, take a step back.

You called Mooclan; I honestly haven't seen him much around, but the award team will definitely notice that (if it's really the case) and take it with them when they are chosing candidates.

I agree with Vigilo :) usually the people candidates in each category are well known for whatever they are nominated for. Mooclan is well known because he was and is a great forumer, not a great forumer because he's well known. In that way, its a popularity contest, but rightly so.

Regardless, I do think lots of other people have the potential to be nominated for certain categories. It'll be very interesting to see who will be in Best Forumer. I can think of lots of people!

(Not specifically Mooclan) But if someone was well known for something but he doesn't do anymore what he always did, he shouldn't be nominated right? Well, that's what I think.

I agree with that. :) I guess we'll be able to handle that situation when and if it comes!

I did. At the last MCGamer Awards, I got nominated for best female forumer, despite almost never talking/being on Teamspeak and not having a huge amount of friends here. Though it does decrease your chances, you still have a shot at it.

Personally, I think Pearlyyy Ceroria and Miner9823 have a good chance at either winning best forumer or best male forumer.

Plus, teamspeak activity has nothing to do with forum activity. #AmberForBestFemaleForumer

Speaking of mooclan, he has been rather busy irl/away from MCG, in fact I've closed the gap between him and I by almost 500 posts in the last month or so, but due to his popularity, he'll probably end up getting multiple awards. Again, no offense to Moo at all. He's a good friend of mine, but it's a possibility :p

I disliked how one member tended to win multiple similar awards last MCGA, let's hope for a more varying nominee field.

Funny how I didn't get tagged even a single time. :p

Well, MCGamer Awards!
What can I say? At this level of activity, I don't think that I should take the top place in the MCGamer Awards. I don't doubt that I would be capable of it, if I tried, but I lost the majority of my motivation to post over time.
However, with the return of the MCGamer Awards as well as a certain family situation arising, I am being nudged towards the forums yet again. We'll see.

I will enjoy seeing who else has claimed the title of top forumer.

However, one point that I feel inclined to mention:
Within the MCGamer Awards and otherwise, does "Top Forumer"/"Best Forumer" label the person as the best forumite (yes, that's the correct term) overall, or of that time?

For example, consider this: Once, The Arena Master and HalfSquirrel were hailed as the two top posters in the entire community. However, they withdrew from the community (or, in Arena's case, was forcefully removed), and I was considered by many to be the best poster, to the point that Arena agreed that I had overshadowed him. Assuming I withdraw and others take up my mantle, would that mark them as a better forumer overall, or a better forumer at the time?
It's been easily half a year since I've essentially hit the stage of retirement from actively foruming, passing by here and there but rarely posting. And yet, my name is still brought up as a (relatively high?) candidate for the MCGamer Awards. If anything, I think that is indicative of my ability, skill, and potential as a forum poster. However, if someone else takes the crown of Top Forumer, does that mark them as better than I, or simply more active?

I guess you could say that I'm asking this, in a sense, out of pride. I'd like to say that I'm perfectly content with someone else taking the title, but in reality it's something that I'm slightly disappointed about. Who knows? Perhaps I may return to foruming, with this round of the MCGamer Awards as my motivation. I'm not dead, just at a distance that can be crossed in leaps and bounds.
