Ah, it almost feels like yesterday when I sat down on this exact same chair, and wrote this thread exactly one year ago, thanking all the individual people that made my experience as good as it was. I remember writing down a long list of the people I met, the clans I was in and the events I attended. I know you've all seen those sorts of things before, so I thought I'd do something a bit different.
I guess one could say I was part of this community since it's birth. I officially joined the forums on the world-renowned 4/20 blaze it, three years ago (community corner didn't exist!) when very few people knew what that actually was. I also happened to be the 1337th person to join. I guess you could say I was a special snowflake in some regards.
However, I never really did express myself in any way. For quite a while, I maintained myself as just being a name on a computer screen, replying to threads and such. In fact, I've only really spoken to a few people here, probably none that are still here, and I'd like to keep it that way. I've never started any clans or organized my own events or even applied for the moderator position, which is why most people don't really know who I am, or that I've been here for so long.
I've learned a lot from this place. Apart from necessary internet slang and the word "bias", this place has taught me to be open-minded, and to accept new ideas or concepts that were once foreign to me. I also learned not to judge people by who they appear to be, whether who they actually are is better or worse.
Of course, there must always be a thank-you section to these types of threads, and so, here is mine. I'd like to thank the community as a whole, and not one specific person or any specific people. Over the course of the three years I've been here, I've (hopefully) treated everyone on the forums as an equal. I envision you all as just names on a screen and nothing else. That mindset has allowed me to enjoy myself more here, knowing that everyone was equal, unlike real life. Participating in discussions, proposing new ideas, meeting new people and playing a game I once loved is what I enjoy(ed) most.
It's been a quite interesting three years, filled with good (and bad) decisions, hiatuses, meeting new people, a whole lot of forum posting and a whole lot of MCSG. And even though I don't play very much Minecraft anymore, this community seems to have an allure that just won't allow me to leave. Just how welcoming the people here are, and how outstanding some of the members here are, prevents me from saying my last goodbyes.
And so, here I am, three years later.
What does the future hold?
