Let me start this off with an explanation on what this is. This is a little series of reviews for albums, new and old, that I, Glade_OS, will be doing on a regular basis. The album reviews will be for albums in the rock, hard rock, metal, emo, punk, grunge, alternative rock, and all sub-genres and fusions. If you have a suggestion for an album for me to review that fits one of the categories please feel free to suggest it. Also please give me feedback on these threads and I will think about said feedback. I am currently looking for graphics for the series, mainly being the end score and logo (which is currently just the underlined text ). If you want to make graphics for these threads please message me on the forums.
In these reviews there are three phases. The overview, the songs, and the conclusion. The overview will tell about the band, the songs will be the reviews of each song, and the conclusion will be an average. All things will be rated out of 10 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

The Review​

Appetite for Destruction was the debut album for the band, Guns N Roses. The album was released on July 21, 1987. Prior to this release, five singles were recorded. These singles being It's So Easy, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City, and Nightrain. It was recorded by Axl Rose (Lead Vocals), Slash (Lead Guitar), Izzy Stradlin (Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals), Duff McKagan (Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals), and Steven Alder (Drums). It was released under Geffen records. Now onto the song reviews (the part everyone reads ).

Song 1 - Welcome to the Jungle;
Now chances are, if you enjoy rock/metal music, you have probably heard or played this song before. It was the second single off the album, right behind It's So Easy. It is often consider a classic for the genre and with good reason. It is also probably the best song off the album. The instruments compliment Axl's vocals very well throughout the song, even though he does make some... weird sounds in the middle of the song. So we will be welcoming this song with a 10/10

Song 2 - It's So Easy (Explicit):
This is not as popular as Welcome to the Jungle, however it is still a good song to listen to. This was the first single off the album, so I guess you can say it was the first song from Guns N Roses people listened to. The instruments are probably the spotlight of this song. The lyrics can be a little hard to comprehend at times, which could be why the song reminds me of Nirvana. So I guess I could say it is easy to give this song a 9/10

Song 3 - Nightrain:
Nightrain was the last single off of the album. It is quite a good and energetic song, probably why I could say that it is a train that is out of control. The live version of this song is especially good. The instruments, like most songs in the album, are very spot on, but this time you can actually understand the lyrics. It also has a very good solo about halfway in. This has lead Nightrain to come rolling in with a 10/10

Song 4 - Out ta Get Me (Explicit):
Now before we have grammar Nazis com in, I think I might want to finish this song review. The song starts off with the guitars playing a very good beat along with the drums keeping the tempo. Then after that, Axl joins in with vocals. The song does have a bit of cursing in it which kind of feels like they are just in there. The song is also mainly to those who try to hold you back from doing what you want. So in the end, I will be giving this song an 8/10

Song 5 - Mr.Brownstone (Explicit):
One of the songs in the Mr and Mrs title family, we have Mr.Brownstone. It starts with a "scratchy lead guitar" and the drums playing. Then it will add the guitar and vocals into the mix. The bass guitar is probably in there somewhere, but let's face it, no one hears it (sorry if I offended any bass players :3). The song can be a little chaotic at times but it is still a good listen. Which is why I am giving the song an 8/10

Song 6 - Paradise City:
Now this one might be a little bit of an odd rating. Paradise City was the fourth single on the album. A lot of people credit this song with being one of Guns N Roses' best songs. Personally, I think it kind of drags on. Considering for one it is 6:48 minutes. The instruments are still very good with most Guns N Roses songs and the vocals are pretty good. It also has a very simple drumbeat if you are looking to play it. In the end I will be giving this song a 7/10

Song 7 - My Michelle (Explicit):
Next off is the song that has my Aunt's name in it. The song is slightly shorter than other songs but still has the usual good instruments. The vocals are pretty good and compliment the instruments. The drums are also nice to play along to. It also still feels like a Guns N Roses song and is probably one of my favorite songs off the album, of course behind Nightrain, Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle. This has lead me to give my aunt's song a rating of 9/10

Song 8 - Think About You (Explicit):
Think About You probably seems a little more tame compared to other songs. It sort of reminds me of a faster Sweet Child O' Mine. The instruments are probably the best part for me, especially the guitars. The vocals do go along quite well also. So, after I thought about stuff, I am going to give Think About You an 8/10

Song 9 - Sweet Child O' Mine:
Probably one of my favorite Guns N Roses songs, this one is a little more tame but still manages to maintain the Guns N Roses feel. It is the third single on Appetite for Destruction. The guitars and drums manage to keep the same pace throughout the song while the vocals work along with this pace. The song is quite fun to play along to and easy to learn for beginners. It is clearly talking about a child throughout the song, but considering it is a Guns N Roses song, I have no idea how this child would be in real life. Anyways, I will be giving this sweet song a 10/10

Song 10 - You're Crazy (Explicit):
This song was made back in a time where we would say crazy instead of drunk. It is also probably a song you could play to tell your wife or husband to calm the f*** down. As the title stats, the song is crazy. The song has sort of a control chaos vibe to it. It will sounds good but every instrument is doing beats that complement each other. Although the vocals do feel out of place at time in my opinion. This is why I will be giving this song an 8/10

Song 11 - Anything Goes (Explicit):
This is where the explicit songs of the album end. Although it is explicit, the song is very good. Having a very catchy guitar and some lyrics to back it. I guess it is sort of the song that tells you to just get it over with. It also has a pretty good solo, even though the sound changes a lot during the solo. So if anything goes, I will be giving this song a 9/10

Song 12 - Rocket Queen:
The closing track of the album for once does not leave a bad taste in the mouth (unlike another album I reviewed ). It does seem to reference...things, that are I guess...inappropriate. But that is to expect from Guns N Roses. They did in fact make One in a Million. The song does have very good work on instruments, although the lyrics, like I said are kind of...you know. I have not tried the drums yet, but they seem fun. This is why the closing track will blast out with an 8/10

Conclusions​

So I think I can safely say that if you are okay with explicit songs and...things, then by all means you should buy this album. It has a lot of classic songs such as Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine, and Paradise City (the drag-on song ). This has led me to give the album a final score of 8.66/10.

To end this I would like to give a thank you to everyone who has supported this series. Whether it be reading the review, suggesting albums, or just liking the post, I really appreciate it. I plan to do a ton of these so expect more. I already have more than 50 albums I am planning on reviewing and an idea for the 10th review special. Just a suggestion; make one Album Review thread where you post all of your album reviews. It would be a lot cleaner, rather than posting individual threads. You could also mark which page each review is on, making them easier to navigate.
