When do the forums get too competitive?

I'm not going to lie, I care about my post counts. My like count, no. My follower count, no. I am going to post what I post, no matter whether people "like" it or not. It's just me and I am going to be me not someone who you want to see.

My opinion on this whole competitiveness is really straight forward. It's not needed. The hierarchy that people create in this community is just really sad sometimes. Most people get so caught up in how many followers they have or how many likes they relieve, but truly what is important is to have a fun time on the forums and have better communications with people.

I also agree strongly with MCGamerzism 's point stating how competitive the community gets when the MCG Awards come into play. To be recognised it not important, doing the right thing is.

Why does it matter if people have races? Its all for fun isn't it? I find it pointless but theres not much we can do.

I agree partly on that, as I care about my like count aswell. It shows that people agree with my opinion or appreciate my opinion, or anything from being simply helpfull or a funny joke. Aslong as the likes are genuine I'm happy with them.

I agree that it's wrong to post because of the post count. I personally only post something if I feel like I can add something to the thread.

Miner9823 and I had a little competition, but I wouldn't really say it was competitive. Just having fun!

People who post in Forum Games for posts are the only ones competing for number of forum posts.

Yeah, I suppose so. The reason I care about my message count is because forum activity is important to me, and if I notice that my posts are growing more slowly I try to step it up, but other than that I don't mind.

I'm honestly grateful that you have posted this thread, OhFancy. It's as if you have given me a voice in that matter, because the competitiveness in the forums could bring a lot of trouble when taken too far. It is certainly something I am glad about, you understanding the situations I have been in when it came to such circumstances. I would also like to add on that people also urge others to follow them. The evidence I will provide will speak for itself:

Oh, someone gave me a link:

This evidence is to show that the over-competitiveness in MCGamer has also caused people to become far too cautious of their social status, furthermore, their followers. I have seen plenty of other individuals who have experienced similar situations like I have. And it generally is not a pleasant experience having someone asking you to follow them. And the individual I am, I feel as if I do not follow them, I would begin considering myself as some sort of rude person. Furthermore, as shown from the evidence I have provided, the asking for a follow was also done by "guilt-tripping" me.

A long time ago, a thread had been posted about human emotions. This resulted in me, and another amazing user known as 'BitoBain', have a wonderful discussion about the negative, and most dangerous kinds of human emotions. This concluded in us agreeing upon that one thing is for certain. Pride is one of the essential roots of many different negative emotions, such as Envy, greed, or even wrath. Therefore, people take too much pride when it comes to gaining followers, likes, and messages. And they take to such extents where they must ask to be followed. I have additionally heard rumors of individuals taking time out of their way to make alternative accounts to follow themselves in the forums. Despite the fact that I cannot be certain about such matters, if, hypothetically speaking, this were to be true. Then it would further justify the topic of this thread.

And I do completely understand, that people will wish to increase their likes, post counts, and followers. And I have no judgement to make for that, because it is entirely their choice to what they intend to do in the forums. And by any means, carry on. However, if one takes it to the extent where they would have to urge others to boost their popularity, like asking to be followed, or urging others to look at someone's post and like it. Then that's where the issue is. And with urging people to follow others, we must give the privilege to others to decide on whether or not they should follow someone. It is the individual's own profile, henceforth giving them the choice to decide on whom they get to follow, and nobody else.

There is nothing wrong with doing what you want to do in the forums, but we must not forget what is most necessary when being part of the forums community. It is that we discuss matters that involve the development of MCGamer, keep up with the latest news of MCGamer, and most of all, making friends. Not fans. <3

Honestly, I'm tryharding for 1000 messages :)

As long as people aren't being discriminatory about someone else, it's fine. I have seen "randy" been overused, but it's pretty much a useless insult. I admit that followers do motivate people, but they're not very valued. As for likes... that's all up to how well you post!
