Introduction
Hello again, Tributes!

As you may know, last month’s Spotlight went extremely well. With over 200 participants across 4 sessions, we had a lot of support. With such success, I am pleased to announce the return of Gamemode Spotlight!

For those of you who are new to the event, Gamemode Spotlight is a monthly event where we showcase one of our newest game types. Every week, we'll be hosting events, contests, and scheduled games that anyone can be part of. So come join us in our month-long tournament, submit your entries into our contests, and play one of MCGamer's newest gamemodes!

This month’s Spotlight is dedicated to ColorZone!

ColorZone

If you aren’t sure what ColorZone is, allow me to explain! ColorZone is a fun, competitive game, where the objective is to be the first person to reach 15 kills.

In order to kill someone, they must be standing on your color.

First, you have to splash the ground with your color (indicated by the block of clay in your inventory). Simply throw one of your eggs at the ground, and it will cause a section of the ground to change. If you run out of eggs, don’t worry, you will slowly begin to get them back.

Now that the ground is yours, you can shoot anyone who is standing in it by right clicking with your weapon in hand. If you shoot someone who is not in your color, you will not get a kill.

Be careful, as other players can also kill you. If you are standing on your own color, you are safe. However, if you are standing on someone else’s color, you are at risk of being shot.

Once someone has reached 15 kills, the game is over and the winners are crowned!

Which Class Will You Choose?

In ColorZone, there are 5 different weapons to choose from, each having different advantages and disadvantages. Below are screenshots showing each one, and all of the information to go with it!

ColorZone Tournament

Just like last month, we will be having a tournament for the Spotlight! Throughout the month of March, we will be holding 4 one-hour sessions of gameplay. During these sessions, you will compete in games refereed by staff members. You will be given points for winning the game, as well as just participating. These points will go toward a leaderboard, which we will keep track of for the month. To participate in this tournament, just sign into our Teamspeak at ts.mcgamer.net and poke any staff member currently in our ColorZone Tournament custom channels. Sessions will be held at the following times (click for time conversions):

Dates:
Saturday, March 7th - 6:30PM CST
Saturday, March 14th - 6:30PM CST
Saturday, March 21st - 6:30PM CST

Player Submission Contest

Can’t make the tournament sessions? You can still get involved! Throughout the month, we will be posting threads to update the community on the status of the tournament. Within these posts, we will be adding content from all of you! We will be accepting entries starting today, so check out the topics at the bottom for your chance to be featured in our Gamemode Spotlights.

Tips and tricks - Share your own original tips and tricks. Keep them appropriate, and be sure to relate them to the gametype. (Click here to submit)

Map - Showcase your own ColorZone map! (Click here to submit)
Requirements:
  • The map should be between 60 to 90 blocks in radius.
  • The entirety of the maps 'play area' must be made out of coloured clay. So where users are standing there should be clay.
  • The decorations of the map however, can be anything you like.
  • The map must be inescapable.
  • You must have a minimum of 30 spawn points. If you choose not to list 30, 30 will be selected for you. This is mostly for special maps if you have a particular place in mind.
Montage - Create a montage using a collection of clips from ColorZone. Be sure to showcase your greatest moments and epic fails! (Click here to submit)

Deadlines:
Wednesday, March 11th - 11:59PM CST: ColorZone tips and tricks
Wednesday, March 18th - 11:59PM CST: ColorZone map
Wednesday, March 25th - 11:59PM CST: ColorZone montage

Can't the events be hold on a time so both EU and US can participatie?
Although I am US, I wish they'd do it at EU times as well. I guess if they did it at US & EU times, then AU people wouldn't be able to come. Last time, they did US & AU times, this time they're doing the same, what if next time it was US & EU times?

If it's held 3 hours earlier, it would be at a reasonable time for US, AU and EU.

The reason why we chose this time is because it's the most convenient time that doesn't interfere with existing events such as Staff Q&A, Community Focus Groups, and Staff meetings. Saturdays are very busy for us unfortunately :( 3 hours ahead of this time would interfere directly with our mod meetings. We are open to more suggestions though!

Ehh.. I suggested 3 hours earlier, not ahead. :p
Edit : My English sucks, didn't realise it means earlier.
Edit2 : 5 hours earlier would still be at reasonable time for all regions. How about that?

3 hours earlier as in 3:30PM CST correct? That would be during the mod meeting. :( 5 hours earlier would be during Sr. Staff meeting. We tried Fridays as well and there wasn't nearly as good of a turnout. Possibly Sundays?

Sundays would be alright, I just feel like EU is being left out on these events.
