Hey guys Silently or Alex here for anther one of these topic threads, first off, I'd like to thank all of you for the support I've been getting on my threads! It really makes me feel good that their are those of you hi actually care to read them! :)

Before I begin this topic NO I am NOT racist. I'm a 14 year old Hispanic.

Lastly, I don't want this thread to OFFEND or cause FLAME so please do not instigate them. <3

The homicide of Eric Garner

For those of you who don't know, Eric Garner was an African-American New York resident, who was brutally choke Holded by a white police officer. This has been a real life dilemma that has many caused many things not only to New York but the whole United States. Anyways he was Brutally murdered being held in a choke hole after screaming that he couldn't breathe and the officer "Mike Brown" continued to choke him all for what? A few cigarettes that he sold without tax? In my opinion, Officer Mike Brown should have been charged with murder charges and sent to jail considering he has been apart of the NYPD for 6 years. Eric Garner got his life taken away because he was selling cigarillos with out tax? I believe that, this is something that shouldn't have occurred.

The Ferguson Case

Another young African-American man who was brutally SHOT DOWN by a white law enforcement officer. Considering This young African-American man was shot down 6 times. By a police officer who hasn't just been there 2 or 3 years but nearly 7! Racism isn't something that should occur no matter what in this world. Why would a cop who's supposed to be doing good for humanity is killing innocent people.

My opinion on these cases

Even if they were to be doing something extremely bad, they shouldn't have been killed! Cops are for the good they have weapons to protect not to harm! This really breaks my heart considering its just a racist crime and both of them were left freely to walk the cities of there state without being fugitives? A homicide is a homicide and it should be paid with jail.

Thanks for reading <3

Racism has been here from a long time, and sadly still is here today, it needs to be changed honestly...I bet there's several petitions on punishment on this subject so that's one way to try and change things, but something needs to happen, it's so stupid, racism. I gotta agree with ya here.

Sadly Yep! D: Unfortunately it's still around, but i'd expect racism coming from average people and not law enforcement,

Exactly, But i believe they shouldn't take it out on certain people.

Silently, I completely agree with what you said, but I think there is also a thing called "over-racism".

In the Netherlands for example, we have a day where a lot of people paint themselves black, may be weird you think, but in the Netherlands this is just something that is part of our culture, and is comparable to Santa Claus. There is a white man, called 'Sinterklaas' and his helpers, who are all black. Keep in mind that this is a "celebration day" that is older than Santa Clause is. There were huge discussions about this being racist, while it is just a part of our culture, and because there were some people who were against it, people now also paint themselves green or yellow and a whole lot of other colors. I'd just be like if Santa Clause can't have elves as helpers, because they are small and have big ears...

Unfortunately there are racist people out there. The best thing we can do is keep ourselves from being racist, and it will slowly get better. However, i completely agree with you, even the cops need to get punished for awful things like these.

Would you like me to correct the thread title?

British police do not carry firearms which can negate this issue. I suppose this is because we have more police per square mile than the USA. I really do find this racist attitude disgusting and cannot understand why in this day and age it is not punished more heavily. I am not too familiar with individual state law, does murder carry the death penalty in the New York State?

I don't think that taking police' firearms will do much good. It would just lead to beatings with other weapons which would make it a lot worse. Also, the death penalty was abolished in New York in 2007.

I recognize this is a problem, and it's mainly because of stereotypes that started during slavery times. It's unfortunate that both Europeans and Americans took part in such horrific activities, which have left a stain on our countries.

If I didn't know any better I would say that the non-firearm strategy works. In 2011 there were just 59 gun related murders in the UK compared to 8500 in the USA, however other factors do contribute to this. I recognise that sometimes force is needed yet if both parties are unarmed, that surely means less casualties.

I see your point, but yet again the UK has 64.1 million people while America has 318.9 million people. Additionally, the amount of victims saved with guns outweighs the amount of police-shootings proven to be misconduct.
