The question is simple: do you prefer recreational or competitive sports and why?

Personally, I prefer competitive sports as I feel you get a chance to prove yourself and get a reward for all you hard work. Even though there's a lot more pressure and competitive nature you can form closer bonds with your teammates and use the competitive spirit to push yourself further and make yourself more determined to succeed and win. It's not only about winning medals; it's about winning for yourself and the team as well as proving yourself and showing people what you can do.
It gives reason to the sport and creates more passion, even if you have to push yourself to the limit and do a lot more conditioning, exercise and strengthening.
From another point of view, I can see how the pressure can make competitive sports dislikable and exhausting. But that's actually one of my favourite parts of competitive sports :3

Edit: You also have to consider the injuries you get from competitive, since there's a higher chance with the higher level that you drive for and play at. Heck, I'm dealing with injured knees right now :p

Competitive for sure. I've been playing competitive tennis for over 2 years now, and I enjoy every moment I spend on the court in a tournament.

I can say I have been at the highest level possible for myself at this stage in two sports and I can say I love competitive. I just have a drive that makes me want to do better and better.
Will give someone 1million Scooby snacks if they can guess the two sports correctly.

I have always enjoyed competitive sport as a whole, as it lets me express my passion for the game. For example it would be extremely awkward to be playing social sport and acting like everything was at a cost. I do enjoy my social sport from time to time as it allows for me to relax and just enjoy the game as it happens without having to treat is seriously.

I'd say competitive. The same reasons as yours. Being competitive makes you good at the game/sport or anything. Trying to cheat makes you even worse at what you're doing.

It's funny we're all acting like we're doing sports right now when we're staring at a computer screen. lol jkjk <3

Nevertheless, I prefer competitive sports in most cases, but I do like some recreational sports.

After playing AAU basketball for four years, I'd definitely pick competitive. The rush you get when your games actually matter is so great. Although playing sports just for fun is great, and is a great way to relax ^^

Friendly competition > Recreational.
Recreational > Unfriendly competition.
I've played Badminton for years in both a competitive and recreational aspect, and ultimately my level of enjoyment boils down to, "how nice are the other players?" I'm not super competitive but I find that competitive players offer better games, so I play with them. But no matter what, no one likes a jerk.

That being said, with video games, I enjoy cooperative over both competitive and recreational. No one needs to win or lose if we're all working together.
