Have you thought of applying for mod? Tbh it is not as easy as it looks. I was a mod on a small server and I was all over the place. I don't know how these mods last as long as they do on MCGamer.

I really hope people aren't freaking out over the handful of recent resignations. There is no doubt that resignations are sad and disappointing since no one wants to see familiar faces leave. But that doesn't mean that the ship is sinking and that OMG everything is doomed. If that were true, then we should have sunk after the first resignation in 2012.

In terms of numbers, the recent resignations are not unusual, and are entirely acceptable; there is no sudden staff shortage because a handful of people left. We had it worse about one year ago, back in February of 2014. We had a large wave of resignations much worse than now (28 moderators, 1 Sr. Mod, 1 Antster), and we were still strong enough to bounce back and grow. Anyone who are panicking lacks historical perspective, and I know that these resignations won't sink us.

People resign on their own accord (and since it is around the new year, maybe they were planning on turning over a new leaf, and thus they had to give us up), and we have to expect old faces to leave. But in their place are always new faces to take their place, and people seem to forget or lose perspective of this cycle. This is something I wrote about in an opinion piece in the CEP #4, "The Lifecycle of a Blood Donor". Read about it in CEP #4, HERE.

We can always use more mods, but we can't open the floodgates to accept everyone as a mod, regardless of their motivation, intention, experience, or history with us. If we start relaxing our standards, then we will have an unruly mass of mods of varying quality. We won't be able to manage them as effectively as we do now, and the problem becomes controlling the mass of mods effectively when issues like power abuse, exploitation, and extortion occur within the staff team. More mods is not a silver bullet, it's simply a solution that creates a slew of different problems; encouraging staff growth whilst retaining our standards is a slow but surefire way to handle our current issues while minimizing consequences.

lol I said the same thing about the number of mods resigning back in feb. Didn't know the exact amount, but yeah.

On the topic of mod standards, what happens when people who are better or higher standards get denied when lower standard and less experience people are getting accepted? What are people to do when they get declined for "not up to standards" or in my case "haven't done enough for the community". There really isn't much to go on when you are declined for reasons like that lol. How are you to improve or change something based on that?

I do have to be careful about what I say publicly, but I will say this:

The large amounts of resignations including two Sr. Mods and Antster (eventually I did, but I fell back to Mod for a temporary while) surely wasn't just pure coincidence.

I think we can all agree on that lol. Typically when there is a mass amount of resignations.... there is a reason behind it.

Sadly some great members of the staff teams have departed recently, but this was their choice. After all, we can't force them to stay. Sometimes people just choose to move on.
Everything changes over time, and there will always be new staff members joining and leaving :) We just have to accept this fact.
But hey, it's not like this will stop others from excelling in their areas here! People who leave may well stay with the community, even if they have lost interest in the game and help out where they can. It's just that people have to find the balance between their hobbies and interests outside of MCGamer.
Most of their reasons are posted in their resignation threads, which are posted here in the community corner. This should clear up most of your concerns or questions posted here.
To my knowledge, there are quite a few CA mods which are active, but I will try and attend the region a lot more if you believe that it is a bit neglected :3

Yes it is very unfortunate, couldn't say it any better myself. It was their choice ;-;.

Some of it is inter-personal drama (we mitigate it, but we can't universally prevent drama), some of it is protests (many of those users reapply after tempers cool), some of it is convenient timing (school midterms and finals see the most resignations or LoA's), and some of it is just coincidence.

But I've found that one of the most consistent patterns for staff resignations is thus: people always resign after a new round of Trial Sr. Moderators are picked. I think people leave because they feel that they're being forgotten and don't want to wait for their chances next time, which is sad because many, many times those who resigned actually were slated to be nominated for the next round of Trials.

Ultimately, everyone leaves for their own reasons. I prefer to focus on who we have now rather than who we no longer have.
