It's always best to be a little more optimistic about your skills in PvP. Because you'll never know, there are probably countless people who aren't as good at PvP as you are, take me for example! I'm absolutely terrible at it, but I usually play the game when I am with friends and we want to have a little fun.
However, as said by other members, it isn't always so good to stay in-game to call them out. But I do understand your motives to put him in his place for being a little disrespectful over a game, but here's a saying that's worth listening to:
"The best gift of mankind is forgiveness."
Despite the fact that he was disrespectfully rude over a mere video-game is a frustration, it is always best to forgive them for their ignorant actions. You have done what you thought was right, and as well as teaching him a lesson for what happens if you disrespect someone, but it's always favoured to simply let it be.
There are some people out there who actually had to put up with others who took things to the extreme, where the circumstances turned in to cyber-bullying and harassment. It's best to be glad that you were not in such a position as I was when I put up with trash-talkers. <3
If you need anything, always reach out to others, it really helps.
