MCG vs MCSG difference explained.

Never thought a thread like this was necessary, but people are very confused with the difference.

MCG = Minecraft Gamer or MC Gamer or Minecraft Gamer Network

This is the entire network, it includes the hub, and all the gamemodes inside of it. One of those gamemodes is MCSG. The forums are part of MCG, not MCSG. However, they have a sub section for MCSG, as well as other gamemodes. It is getting updated to V2 today.

MCSG = Minecraft Survival Games

This is a popular gamemode on MCG. It has been in V2 for a very long time now, and there are currently no plans for a V3.

Confusion between the two is often caused by the one letter difference, and the fact that the URL was minecraftsurvivalgames.com. To make matters worse, it says Survival Games at the top of the forums. However, this will all be fixed in MCG V2 with a new website + banner that says MCGamer, and the URL will be MCGamer.net.

This difference was vaguely explained in the road map thread, but some players are still confused. Yes, MCG and MCSG are totally different!

Meh....we MCGs only refer to the MCSG servers as MCG. Though I guess the only way "MCG" decided to consolidate their non-SG power was to merge with another non-SG server.

Are you SURE about that? What about the chest update which was going to be a part of V3? Where they were going to add tier 3 chests that spawned randomly and all of that? What happened to that!?

Yes, the chest update was ditched.

I was kind of looking forward to it, there were things I loved about it, and things that made me despise it. Oh god, V1 style food, the memories, THE HORRORS!!!

yeah, there was sometimes tier 3 chests on fortune. This may have been a glitch. Anyway it is long gone now though.

A lot of people who have been here for a long (including me) accidentally refer to the entire network as MCSG simply because that's all the server offered at the time and MCSG was the name of the entire network.

Getting used to calling the network MCGamer now but just force of habit I guess.
