Eh, when you're looking at someone technically all you see is the photons bouncing off them. When you call/skype it's your computer/phone speaker creating a sound similar to that of your friend's voice. Imo as long as you are communicating with them somehow, it's socialising. I think it's just the older generation not being used to it and putting a bad stigma around it.
TECHNOLOGY IS EVIL AHHHHHH

"I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." -Albert Einstein
Interestingly, when making this thread, I thought of putting that quote on the thread.
I think I will ;)

I don't think you're qualified to say whether or not I have bonded with people over the Internet. I've bonded with some people more doing what you don't consider "socializing" than doing what you would consider "socializing" in real life. Both are socializing and both are necessary, but one is not automatically inferior to the other.

Fair enough. But this really isn't focussed toward our community, I'm not saying you haven't bonded with people over the internet, you probably have. Maybe I should have made this clear at the start, and I'll probably edit it in, but this is more about texting all your friends instead of actually meeting up. I suppose this thread is also a generalisation of people obsessed with computers and phones and using them instead of actually going out and doing things. (Hypocritical, because personally I break that rule a lot)

I'm sorry if I offended you or anything of the kind, that was not my intention. My deepest apologies.

I'm not offended at all, just speaking my mind. I don't really get offended by much, don't worry about it.

With the texting friends thing, I think it is kinda disappointing when I see people just text when they could do something. I wish I had more opportunities to do something and meet up, but I just have to get in that time during school.
