Better FPS while recording?

I have the same issue, though fraps is not the best recording software. I'd recommend getting Bandicam or DxTory!

Is Dxtory free, and do you get better fps with it, that's what I've heard?

Well there are several things you can do. You can start off by clearing your "Temp" folder which could be found by simply going to your start menu then typing in "%temp%".After you do that all you have to do is remove everything inside there, there might be some things that you will not be able to delete and that's perfectly fine.Something else you can do is try to get a custom disk drive just for your recordings, if you do end up doing this your fps should increase by a whole lot, it worked for me. If none of that works then just ahead and get a new recording software. One I strongly recommend is 'Action!' for me it works perfectly fine and only end up losing about 10-20 fps with my current (somewhat bad) desktop.

Yup, I save my reocrdings on a separate drive x) I've heard about Action! too, I might have to do some research on this, thank you all :3

My fps while recording varies from 90-150, which is more then enough for getting decent flow, but when I play the recording back, it freezes every now and then., and it is not smooth. I use Camtasia, so any help would be great. I have 8gb of ram, and 1TB of storage. My graphics card I can't give exact specs off the top of my head (I am at school), but I know it is a pretty decent card. I run windows 8. Any ideas on how to fix this would be great.

Sounds like your harddrive can't keep up with your recording (too slow writing speed) it basically gets overloaded with data and it'll need a quick break sometimes to keep up (freezing) try lowering your quality, or start using DxTory it has a more customisable setup so your van het the perfect settings, or get a beter HDD/SSD

Try out Action its good quality and doesn't lower fps much it should be great for a MCG montage

If I purchased an SSD card, and had my windows run off of that, and then had my 1T drive run all my other programs, would that fix the problem? Or better yet, can you give me the solution if I were to purchase another hard drive?

Before getting a new hardrive I'd suggest download DxTory and search up some optimal guide on google, if it doens't work out you'll also be able to test the write speed of your harddrive on there, you can also search up what speed is needed for a certain quality video.

Thinking of it more, get action. Action is easy to use and reliable 75% of the time, when it's not reliable it is really NOT reliable at all such as many lag spikes.
