Virus On The Website? Stay Away From It!

There was a message that had arrived at my screen while viewing the page and it came out of nowhere. There was no link or ad I clicked. It just appeared. Obviously it was a virus because it claimed I needed a newer version of Java to run this website...
Since Java is not required to view this site I press the X button. It takes me to the download link ANYWAY. I press the X button again! Malware detected! I mean like what the... luckily the virus was quarantined. I just want to inform you all to stay clear of the Java Update message, as it is a virus.
