I'm fine with either Don't Poke or Don't Chat...
...but some staff members need to remember not to have both enabled.
I believe you can always find "Mods" witch are technically the first person you need to reach out to if you need some help, sr.mods and admins deal with more deep stuff and are normally busy so in my opinion they can have both enebeled either way I usually msg/poke mods if I need support sense they are there to moderate.
But hey that's just my opinion

Yeah, I always poke mods for in-game stuff. The other things, however... nevermind.

VIP Do Not Poke Petition

Hey guy’s so I recently received VIP as many of you might know, I was given VIP for creating “Survival Games Haruka” for those of you who don’t know what that is it’s a new map on the MCSG servers, Now to the story shortly after I received VIP I kind of felt like getting more in TS sense I wanted to get to know the community a little more, and well something happened, I’ve truly loved TS and most of the people I have met here. I’ve been on TS almost daily for the past few weeks and it’ has been amazing meeting all this people I now play with daily, Now here comes the sad face of this short story.

Since the first day I was given “VIP” I noticed many people think I am some type of “Big Time YouTuber” and decide to Poke spam me asking me for my YouTube channel or to please record with them, I had no issue getting poked the first couple times but it’s gotten to a point where I also get mistaken for a Mod and people think I can ban people or mute players since they normally poke me asking me to punish players who are either hacking or braking some type of rule, I have also been targeted by people in game poking me so that I can be killed by their friends and or people poking me randomly with “Oh it’s you” or “Hey” and well for this reasons and many more I will point later on I believe we deserve “Don’t Poke (Staff Only)”.

Another reason why I believe we should have “Do Not Poke Staff Only” is because, well, there isn’t really a reason to Poke a VIP unless it’s quiet important, hence “Don’t Poke (Staff Only)”. Everything that I have personally experience with pokes, could of easily been done as a message. I personally would rather here a “Ding” in teamspeak, then get a “Hey, wake up” with a notification box on my screen, for just a “Hi.” Or a “What’s your youtube channel?” which we do get that, a lot.

How can you help?

-Sign this petition explaining why you believe VIP's should have the "Do Not Poke Staff Only" perk.
-let us know you support this spreading the word :)
For Goodness Sake, Do i look like a white woman that goes to starbucks?

This post is going to seem like it derails a little bit, but I need to explain how TeamSpeak group mechanics work in order to explain my own opinion. It's very difficult to show how these permissions work without actually showing an example, so I'm going to try and explain the best I can.

TeamSpeak permissions rely on different levels of power in order to complete certain actions. In this particular situation, we're actually dealing with 3 different permissions: the power level needed to poke the person in the "Don't Poke (Staff Only)" group, the power to add the group, and the power to remove the group.

With the first permission (the power needed to poke the person in the Staff Only group), that permission is fine. As proof, there's already groups that allow this to happen. The problem is the ability to add and remove the group.

With TeamSpeak, there's no way to make it so you can only set the group on yourself. I wish there was, but there isn't. You either have the power to set the group on EVERYONE or on NOBODY [if any of the MCGamer Staff doesn't believe me, see if you would be able to set (but don't actually set it) a donator group on a higher ranked Staff member. I will GUARANTEE that you can]. So what does this mean?

This means that a VIP would have the power to set "Don't Poke (Staff Only)" not only on themselves, but on everyone else on the TeamSpeak server - ranks below them, other VIPs, and even Staff members. This would make the group highly prone to abuse; they could set the group on other friends and, more importantly, set it on a Staff member and interrupt them when they are trying to communicate with other users. I'm not saying that any VIPs in this thread are terrible people or would ever consider doing this, but there's always some bad apples.

HOWEVER, there is a workaround. I DO support giving VIPs the ability to block incoming pokes; but, the only way that the scope of abuse can be limited is by giving Senior Staff the ability to set this rank and then having VIPs ask the Senior Staff to give them the rank or take it off. To my knowledge (unless this has changed since I was Staff) you can actually ask a Senior Staff member to set these on you with no problems.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain that :) and well I would be happy if they would give the VIP's that ask for it to have it permanently because I would honestly rather msg someone than to get poked :p

I 100% agree with you. It's possible to make the group permanent, and it SHOULD be a permanent group in this case.

On an unrelated note, you can make pokes a little less annoying when you're in-game. If you're on Windows, if you right-click the TeamSpeak tray icon down in the bottom right (it's with all the icons near the clock) and select Hide, your TeamSpeak client will be minimized, removed from view and pokes will no longer disrupt your game (they'll just appear as small notification balloons down in the bottom right). I'm not certain of the process on Mac.

TeamSpeak used to do this by default every time you minimized it. Why on Earth it was removed (or at least not offered as an option under Settings) I'll never know. It's definitely a lifesaver (literally and figuratively) for moments where someone's poke gets you killed.

This is just my opinion, obviously some people do not like to be poked, but I do not see it very necessary. I personally as well as every staff member gets poked on teamspeak a lot, in order to do out job. If you are recording, you can go to teamspeak preferences and notifications, go to the drop down menu known as other and turn off the poke noises. Hopefully this is helpful!
