Just some little general tips if you get stuck(Literally)

If you find yourself stuck in a hole you can't get out of do not block glitch!! Start jumping up and down hitting yourself with a fishing rod to give you a little boost up. If you have a team-mate have him try and fist you while you're jumping.
If you're running and get lagged back(rubber banded) right click with your sword. If you don't have a sword sit there and crouch for a little bit.
If you are lagging a little bit or if someone tells you that you're misplaced do "/gf." This is "Ghost Fix."
No ThatOneTomahawk it is not "GirlFriend or GuyFriend"

Hmm I think using the rod to boost yourself does count as block glitching but Im not sure about having a friend do this...

Yeah...using a rod is definitely not block glitching and neither is using a friend. TBH these were pretty obvious tips.

Well a friend of mine was banned for using the rod to "Glitch" his way out of a trap ;c

Did he make a ban dispute? I don't think I know a single person who hasn't used a rod to get out of a trap. I wouldn't call it a glitch either. Fishing rods in bukkit were made so you can hit people with them. The fishing rod being a glitch is like saying hitting people with your sword is a glitch. That is what the item is made to do. (At least in this gamemode.)

Using the rod to boost your self out is NOT block glitching. Block glitching is were u destroy a block that was made on the map e.g sand block, item frame to your advantage.
