Heyyy :3 I'm sure everyone has heard of the mod optifine, and for a very long time I have been trying to download it. I have watched countless videos on how to install it and have done everything the video has said, but on the video a little bar thingy comes up in the middle of the screen asking to install - which I never get. I have searched about not getting the install thing but I can't find anything. If you're confused what I'm talking about I'm talking about this little pop up message:

Please help as I desperately need an increase in fps :3 Thanks for reading and please respond politely :)

You need to edit your profile on the launcher and select the version of Minecraft you are going to use for Optifine, then run minecraft. Once you get to the home page close Minecraft and run Optifine, and it will install and do everything else for you.

If none of those methods work, you can always drag the files from the Optifine zip file (make sure you have a file archiver like Winrar or 7-zip) into the folder that you're going to use for Optifine (that folder should be in the versions folder). I'm really bad at explaining, so you should go watch this video to help you out:

Ignore the 1.6.2 in the video title. It still applies to the latest version of Minecraft but instead of 1.6.2_Optifine, it should be 1.7.9_Optifine.
Hope this helps.

I did it the first time exactly and it didn't work then I went back and tried to do it again and then I got an error saying I couldn't rename the file to 1.7.9_Optifine when I tried to delete the meta_inf folder thing ;_;

Were you running your computer as an administrator? And make sure your Minecraft is not running while you do that.

Have you tried downloading it old fashioned style. To do that you get the files from optifine.jar and drag them to the 1.7.10 version.
