Crashing while in fullscreen?

For a while now I have not been playing Minecraft in fullscreen due to the fear of crashing. Whenever Minecraft crashes in fullscreen I can never seem to get my computer to respond and then it just sits there... frozen. I would like to be able to play MC in fullscreen with the piece of mind that if I freeze I will somehow be able to recover. I am on a mac so if anyone with a similar situation has this problem what do you do to fix it? Thanks.

Fullscreen typically has the same problem similar to yours, thus forcing me to use the windowed version.
I am still currently attempting to resolve this myself, and if I stumble upon an answer I'll be sure to let you know.

You may try lowing your ram that the game is intaking

You may try lowing your ram that the game is intaking

What exactly would that do? If you had less ram then Minecraft would be more likely to crash (I think). Right now I have it at 2gb.
