Opinion on new music vs old music

I was very curious what the mcsg community thought about new music and old music mainly because this community is made up of younger people.

Do you prefer older music or new music?
What are your opinions on each?

Older music from 1950s-1980s
New music 1990s-present

Which genre/artist/band do you prefer?

My opinion- I prefer old rock from the 60s and 70s. I do not feel new music is very good. In my opinion the quality of music has declined and it isn't the same any more. I strongly dislike rap. My favorite bands/artists are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Wings, ACDC, and Frank Zappa.

I count "old" music as jazz from the pre-1950's and classical music. That's what real old music is. I personally listen to every genre, like i've stated so many times before. I remember Vsauce putting it very well in one of his videos about bias, and that would be survivor bias.

We only remember the good music from before the 1980's, not the bad music. you can't say that all music from back then was better than today's music, because it wasn't. there was plenty of terrible stuff from back then, just as much as there is today.

I honestly don't have a preference in when the music I listen to was made, just about if I like it. I listen to plenty of rock from both the 1960s and the early 2000's. I listen to 80's rap, 90's rap, and modern rap. I listen to plenty of early pioneers in the techno genre and today's modern dubstep and electro. It's all good music. Classical has sort of faded from popularity, but there's tons of classical music that is separated by hundreds of years.

My music tastes differ heavily from, say, 3 years ago, when all I listened to was anime openings. Now, I have much broader (and arguably better) tastes. My favorite genres would be all of them (minus country), my favorite current artist/band is Gorillaz or Coldplay.

I love comparing rappers nowadays to rappers such as Tupac, Biggie etc. Tupuc and Biggie were kings, the rappers nowadays are really bad compared to them, I wish rap was the same

Honestly, I hate the current generation of music. Songs like "problem", "sexy and I know it", and anything by iggy azalea make me fear for the future of the human race. I personally loved the 90's, a little bit of now, and the 80's. American idiot is still my favorite album and, to me, represents the 90's to me. That's real music. In my opinion, rap isn't (pls don't hurt ;-; ) And dubstep is cool I listen to it some, but I'd say it's not real music. Not hating, it just doesn't seem like it to me. Not saying it's bad, just not music to me.
