Change May Be Coming To MCG - You don't even know it

First of all, let me clarify that these are good changes probably coming to MCG, not bad. Let's all have a look at Mojang's EULA, which they will be enforcing on August 1st 2014. Many people have cleared up that MCSG will not be shut down because of it, as the MCG Administration has made it quite clear that there are completely against "pay to win." However, many large networks (and smaller servers) will be affected. This means their "pay to win" donor perks will be replaced with cosmetic and non-game changing perks. This may cause current donor to quit the server and possibly chance other player's minds about donating. If you do some simple math:

Game Changing Perks + EULA Enforcement + Angry Donators = Network Shutting Down (or becoming unpopular and losing it's player base). In Dave 's words "you're just going to have a bad time."

So, it's simple what will happen next.

Player's Without Their Favourite Network + Boredom = They're Going to try and find a new Network

If there is countless players looking for Networks to play on, most likely they'll go to a fair, but popular Network. Arguably the most popular of these, is of course, the MCGamer Network.

What does this mean for MCG? Most likely a whole bunch of players will join the server. More staff will be recruited and MCG will get a lot more donations. If we branch out from here, more donations means new plugins, features, updates and possibly game modes will be added(remember, running a server, especially as big as MCG costs a lot of money to run). This will also mean the possibility of some new map makers in town, new staff and new friends.

Thanks for reading everyone! If you enjoyed the thread or found it helpful, fell free to leave a like! Thanks! If you could contribute to this discussion or just leave a comment, comment down below!

Remember! These changes may happen, it may not happen.

This could possibly happen, I do think that there is going to be a whole rush of new players joining, I don't think more staff will be hired. Possibly with the new "donations" you are talking about, MCGamer can afford to do something with it. :p

It won't really be a rush, as you said. I guess it will happen slowly and steadily, though. Everyone won't just rush off to MCG on August the 1st :p
Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion. :D

Thanks for the comments!

I could see sonewhat of an influx of players around that time. Interesting thoughts. I'm not sure if it'll be enough to make MCG blow up, but it could help growth.

Thanks for the comment, RC! *somewhat :D. Yes, there's a very good chance that MCG will have very high growth rates from August until around September, I'm sure it won't be too noticeable.

This seems like a slippery slope argument, except it ends in our favor which is a refreshing change. However, that does not excuse the inherent improbability of everything working out perfectly like that to our benefit.

A lot of things need to work out perfectly according to your math: larger communities must be ousted for having illegitimate perks with no viable alternatives, Mojang will actually enforce its EULA with legal action, donators will be angry enough to quit despite any concessions or alternatives the community provides, those players would somehow find their way here despite the presidence of other communities and the always-possible option of starting their own community. Every single one of those must be true in order for this train of events to come true, and I can see issues with even one of them actually occurring.

Don't get me wrong: I'd love for morally-lax communities to get shut down rightfully so for their illicit dealings and for our community to benefit from the exodus. But before we start a parade for the expected golden age of player immigration, we should be realistic with our expectations. We should focus on the reality of now, rather than the fantasy of a month away.

It would definitely be good to have more players on the network since they could donate to the servers or apply for moderator. But more people, means more hackers. One of the reasons that there are so many hackers on MCGamer is because they have a huge player base, and not every player is willing to follow the rules. I have nothing against more players, I just want to bring this up.

I hope good servers don't shut down.. Like Wynncraft/CoveMC. They will probably not, as they do not give any in-game perk (pay to win) and they have reasonable prices.
