Some statuses have been made, but I don't think a thread has been. I'll make one as I was originally going to be attending this convention also.

Mineorama sounds, and always has (behind the scenes), like a scam and a half. I received a cheapo YouTuber pass after receiving a private message on YT from the convention creator. This led me to subsequently chatting a few times on Skype with him and one of his partners. Because he wanted me to make a video exclusively advertising Mineorama, I quickly decided to decline because the details they did give to me were fishy sounding.. And I just flat out refuse to advertise for anyone if they give me shotty reasoning. I did on the other hand continue to ask a boatload of questions about the event (friends were attending which compelled me to keep asking), saying that I was interested in attending and if they would offer me a discount if I gave just a small mention of them in the beginning of one or two of my videos. They ended up agreeing, and I went on to buy my one ticket. Stuff happened, and I never ended up advertising for them, which I felt a little scummy about, but I made up for it by mentioning the convention name once or twice in a few videos.
Some time goes by, and I see various extremely well known YTers join the list of attendees, the majority of which made videos advertising it. Due to lack of time in the recent months of December - May, I never ended up booking a hotel. Fail at the time.. I'll admit I completely forgot about it lol.
Enough of my random story though. I just think its ridiculous and it looks to be a massive scam right now. You don't cancel a convention days before it's supposed to happen, and especially if you aren't even giving reason for the cancellation besides "Oh hey, we goofed up and aren't ready to hold the convention yet". Talk about loads of money lost in hotel and travel costs for some people. Hopefully the reschedule isn't too far off, if it ever even happens. I honestly feel for anyone who is losing money, hopefully the hotels understand and accommodate date changes.. But overall, I don't think I'd even go at that point unless I lived in or near NYC due to the events already tainted image.
Here's an interesting video from BebopVoxs perspective. He gives some good details on convention scams..
If the video isn't allowed to be posted, feel free to take it down staff. I can just link it instead.
