What does hack really mean!

This discussion might be stupid to some of you but this discussion is for the new players. Hack means when people goes into servers with mods. Mods are the downloads that makes mine craft a better game. So hacking in mine craft means with people use mods to help them win e.g. instead of a bow and arrows, they use guns to help them win.
I'm not sure if its correct but that's what I think it means. :/
