Correct me If I'm wrong but using macros for hot keying is against the rules? SmoothPixels
What exactly do you mean by using macros for hot keying. Do you mean where you can press a button to switch to a fishing rod, etc. or my case where I use them for moderation duties.

I was always under the impression (this was told to me by a mod, can't remember who) that switching hotkeys with a mouse was not allowed because it was too fast and made it unfair. Only moderators are allowed to use them.

So we are talking about 2 types of macros here.

The first one are macros on a (gaming) MOUSE and (gaming) KEYBOARD. You are allowed to use these as long as they don't give an unfair advantage over other players, e.g. switching to flint and steel and placing fire at the same time. You are allowed to use these as long as you use them for switching slots or for toggling f5 for example. Also, I don't think that macros on a mouse or keyboard respond any faster than pressing the regular number buttons on your keyboard.

The second type of macros that we are talking about here is the macros MOD. Only staff members are allowed to install this mod as it helps them with their moderating duties, e.g. clicking on a macro called "spam" whereby the mod is able to immediately send a message in chat saying: "Do not spam the chat, please." Regular players are not allowed to use this mod as they can spam or flood the chat so fast to the point that other players are not able to say anything anymore in the chat.

So you are allowed to use macros on a mouse or keyboard, as long as they don't give you an unfair advantage over others, but you are not allowed to install the macros mod. :)

I recommend Razer Naga 2014, if you assign macros to the sidebuttons like I did it will be really helpfull.
Macros I use:
1) Sprint
2) F5
3) Number 9

If all you are doing is going in your controls settings and changing what button does what, then you aren't breaking any rules.

Edit: For better communication, use the term "assigning hotkeys" instead of "macros" as people will get confused.
