I need PvP help !

I use alt for crouch and control for optifine zoom.

Whatever works for you, I guess. I tried using R right after the update came out and it was impossible for me to pvp because I rely on strafing a lot when fighting others. I prefer holding my sprint key down at all times.

I use one of the side buttons on my mouse and hold it down constantly during a fight. I never stop sprinting and it's great for both head-to-head confrontations and suprise attacks

It is really logical to use shift for sprint, because it does not disable your right or left strafing, it's just your pinky. Then you can use ctrl for sneaking, (harder to reach with pinky, but that's okay because we crouch in less dire situations) and maybe alt, z, x, c, v, f, r, for other things like F5, optifine zoom, F3, listing players, chat, etc... Or if you are lucky and have a mouse with macros, it becomes even easier for you.

I have everything but 2 things not on default the chat for me is Enter. idk why and opti fine zoom for me is Z because it's close

Bad idea imo. Pressing d will be impossible and you won't be able to strafe well. Use a key that you can hold down with your little finger. Shift works best for me.

I use shift, because it still allows you to FnS, strafe, and do pretty much anything else.
By the way, if you use caps lock, then as long as caps lock is activated you don't have to hold the button.

i have a jite mouse with two key i use one for zoom and one as toggle sprint so i just hold it in it helps a lot

Control. A month of playing the hive with BSM back in 1.5 has trained me well.

I use my 1.7 as tab and my tab button as R
