Why the wait?

Hey all.
I was just wondering, why do we have to wait five minutes in lobby, why not make it when the server is full and say... 75% of people have voted.
Or, if the server needs time, make it two or three minutes.

If there is a special reason, then by all means , please tell me!

The 5 minutes waiting is to get a drink or some food and to go to the toilet.. Its fine as it is.

Sometimes when I am playing, I can't wait for the lobby to go to the bathroom.

I wasnt saying it's a really bad thing, I just wondered why.
I also do things like have a snack before the game.
