[Suggestion] Allowing Alternate Accounts for Banned Users

So I knew a friend of a friend who was a moderator a short while ago. The mod vocally admitted on Teamspeak that he knew that this friend-of-a-friend had been permabanned for BSM usage....yet he didn't ban the alt when this guy was in the Teamspeak channel with us not five minutes later, playing a game with the two of us.

Not that I'm complaining or anything. It was....ironic and possibly mildly chuckle-worthy. Just goes to show how the staff probably shouldn't play favorites with their friends anymore. :/

At the time, I didn't feel like reporting it. Not like I used BSM without reprimand for the entirety of the duration between 1.5.2 to 1.6.4. It'd have made me feel like a hypocrite. (Yes, I am aware that I admitted that. It's so far beyond now that that fact is also irrelevant.)

Well you can't quite skip to that; I think he made a fair point. Say a mod had something against swag giraffe and knew his alt *bam* they want nothing more than banning him. But if his friend was the alt of a banned account, this mod wouldn't think twice about it. It's true that bias goes on BUT counterpoint: why would the mod ban their friend unless they still abused things like hacks and were to deserve it. Honestly, usually when they keep it a secret, it's because the banned alt is a clean, New person and good in the community. Personally, I'd ban even my friend if they utilized hacks but certainly not if they were the alt of an account who did 8 months ago. What kind of person puts their duty to ban rulebreakers over their friends. Doesn't sound like a real friend to me.

I love the idea. ALOT it might just be because I'm friends with some banned people (not going to lie) but some bans are VERY unfair especially perm bans that are for insulting staff those can be faked so easily. I have actually had a friend get perm banned because someone impersonated him on the mcgamer TS and insulted several mods. Luckily he got unbanned but, some people arn't as lucky. And some people truly do deserve a second chance.

Don't say ur friends with banned players. I believe u can be banned for openly saying it but Idk not sure. Either way it'll get some pissed off mods on you xD

AlgerWaterlow if this situation is in fact true, any senior mod or above who was aware of the situation would have taken action. As KRadium said, these kinds of things need to be reported. Moderators are not psychics. Ninehearted, it is basically part of a moderators job description to not be biased in any way and to deliver the same punishments to all people, regardless of their social status with any staff member.
