I'm sure most of you have seen this or heard about this from either a friend or from school or from the news but if you have not, I will give you a quick summary of this tragedy.

Basically a Ferry in South Korea that contained a bunch of highschool students for a field trip capsized (tipped over to one side) and sunk, trapping most of the passengers inside, the Ferry sank fast and not much made it out due to some bad decisions from the captain and crew, who are facing numerous charges.

A lot were rescued but a lot have passed and a lot are still missing. More and more bodies are being found while no recent survivors have been found and rescued. It's sad that this had to happen as they were in ages ranging from 15-17 and still had a long life ahead. Think of your entire grade going to a fieldtrip and this happens..

Anyways what are tour thoughts and reactions towards this? What would you do in that situation and what do you think the captain should have done in that situation? Discuss.

My thoughts are that the Captain should have been last to get off, if you are accounting for numerous passengers, don't be selfish, you were the one that got them in this situation, you get them out. 'The Captain is always last to get off'

Yeah I also find it ridiculous how he orders them to stay put instead of evacuating the sinking ship.

Update: 122 bodies have been recovered, 180 still missing. RIP :(

Wasn't he also in one of the first evacuation vessels aswell? He deserves all the punishment he gets given, just my thoughts.

My condolences go to all the people that had friends and family on the boat.

Again my condolences to the friends and families.

I would have given the order to evac the ship, if the ship started capsizing. I would have told the students and crewmen to swim down as far as possible.

Wow :c I had no idea about this until just now.
It's sad that the captain didn't try to save the other passengers, but I do understand that in the moment, it's easy to forget responsibilities, and just go "aaah get me off of here". Self-preservation is a first instinct, and perhaps he just didn't have the right training or willpower to do what we consider to be the "right" choice, and save others first.

(Is it just me or does Korea seem like a bad place to go right now, first the plane then this.)

If you are talking about the Plane that went missing, the plane wasn't from Korea, it was from Malaysia :')

This would be so upsetting if you survived, all your friends would have gone :(. I think that the captain should have got off last as he was responsible for the people on the ship but I can understand why he tried to save himself however terrible it was.
