SAT Preparation

Hi,
I'm in the process of starting to prepare for an SAT entrance exam to a university in America- I live in Australia and the universities here aren't great. I'm 14 years old and to be honest, I've done some practice tests and the maths and English are pretty easy. The only thing I'm really concerned about is that the actual tests are going to be different to what I'm doing now. I've got no idea really what to do because the tests are so easy but I don't really want to live out the 4 or so years until the test completely underestimating them. What did you guys do to prepare for your SAT? I want websites, and also a criteria list for maths, as in what do I need to know for maths? What should I go over, where should I go, and also what vocabulary should I learn for English?
I actually seriously need help for this, because I'm going to lose an entire year on what I could be spending studying next year, if you want to know the reason PM me.
Hopefully you guys can take this seriously and give me some help.

I have a tutor. The math is by far the easiest section imo (I think you need knowledge up to Algebra 2)
For english, know all of the rules (This is the hardest part for me). For reading, just remember to pace yourself and annotate (when I annotate I always get more right). Idk about the vocab though

You are 14 and taking SATs? Your not even the right age. Normally SATs are taken 17-19 years old. Prepare U for uni. I took the SSATs a similar test and the prep is similar to the tests. I got a 97th percentile overall. Just study ur vocab and know your math. Get a tutor if u really need it. Quizlet is a good resource as well as Khan academy math. Hope I helped. Know stems and use the vocab give online. Just search SAT common vocab and study that. If u take vocab at school use those lists. Math wise know ratios, prevents, fractions how to find GCF and LCM as well as mean median mode. Know geometry basics calculating 2D and 3D figures, an practice a lot of word problems. I'm not taking them, I'm starting to prepare for them They're pretty easy at this stage but I have no idea what to expect.

I'm taking it at 16

Depends. I guess as an international this won't happen for him but I took my SSAT at 14 and graduated at 14. It depends. Also the school system is slowly moving back a year and more and more 10th graders are 16 instead of 15. Normally you take it for real some time in 11th and maybe even early 12th.

When you get closer to actually taking the SATs, subscribe to the online SAT study manual that is provided by CollegeBoard. It's a bit expensive, but it is really helpful.

Well, definitely brush up on your Geometry and Algebra. Those two are the big ones, or so I've heard. And like I said, the online study course.

Math wise know ratios, prevents, fractions how to find GCF and LCM as well as mean median mode. Know geometry basics calculating 2D and 3D figures, an practice a lot of word problems. Know how to do all work with triangles, understand how 45,45,90 and 30,60,90 triangles work and their concepts (makes a lot of problems easier). Maybe will see some quadratic formula stuff (x equals negative B plus or minus the square root of B squared - 4ac all over 2a) and other geometry formulas. Percent increase and decrease. I'm trying to think of other things... I really recommend ordering an SAT preparatory book from either Princeton or the test makers themselves. Look through that and use it as guidelines.

Kinda off topic but not really - I want to work in computer technology, so obviously an Ivy League degree is a great way to start out in a job. I'm thinking of applying for Stanford, because it's I'm California where silicon valley is. Is this a good/realistic idea? Are there any other good universities you'd recommend? Also I haven't made this clear, I'm aiming for a scholarship because my family isn't the wealthiest of families.
