CURRENT MAP PROGRESS: 50%

PLEASE NOTE:
  • Before the name of each major location will be a percentage of it's completion.
  • Everything you see is a work in progress, and is probably going to change one way or another, if you have suggestions then please do tell me, it'd be nice to get a little feedback on what you guys have seen in the screenshots :)
Hello everybody. Project: Arwing Cape (if you have a better name, please do tell me!) is something I've been working on now for several weeks, mainly I've been doing just buildings in a flat space, but two days ago I finished my WorldPainter peninsula, which is the setting for my map, currently, the peninsula is named ''Arwing Cape'' after the Arwing, in Starfox.. however, likely this name will change. On to the actual peninsula itself, it's medium sized, roughly around 650 diameter.. As for the map's setting, it's an apocalyptic setting, sort of like SG2 (infact this map takes a lot of inspiration from SG2) and it's a sort of countryside/town setting.. storywise, you just need to know it's set in the year 2901, when humanity has been completely wiped out by famine and war, when the entropy of the isolated system reached so high, it became apparent that humanity was now unsustainable. Humanity went to war with one another, great nations, once friends fought over food, water and eventually, slaves. Soon it became apparent that humanity wasn't going to survive for long, two weeks after this apparency was realised, a nuclear bomb called the ''Fin'' was launched from a space station into the earth, destroying most of the earth's structures.

The Cornucopia (100%)
Players will spawn in a corn similiar to that of Survival Games 2, however, upon first sight, you find that this is a completely different map, the location is a deserted town, and you're spawning in a giant roundabout, which leads off into four directions (four of which are the major parts of the map)
The Arwing Dam (90%)
This gigantic dam, even at a distance stands over the player, ready to be conquered, the Dam features two power stations. In this location however, you'll find the Arwing River, which is pretty huge in it's own right (about twice the size of the river in SG2)
The Arwing Amusement Park (25%)
This abandoned amusement park echoes Zombieland, a place which once brought happiness now brings desperation and fear, the amusement park includes a Ferris Wheel, a Carnival section, aswell as a Rollercoaster, which is named as the Terrorcoaster.

The Galehead Beach (50%)
The most southern tip of the peninsula, this beach has become something of a swamp.. rising sea levels have made the beach difficult to traverse, and only the brave dare enter it's perilous reaches.
Galehead Hills (30%)
These monstrous hills strike fear into the weary, once home to the small town of Galehead Harbour, this once peaceful, trainquil hillside has been turned into a thick ancient forest, and the ruins of Galehead you ask? Either claimed by the sea or the forest.

Valetown (80%)
Valetown, one of the least effected areas of Arwing Cape, is still mostly intact, the town itself is small really, but is spilt into four sectors:
  • Vale Avenue (residential district); This deserted beautiful avenue once housed the townspeople of Vale, but now, all it houses is FEAR.
  • Vale Industrial (industrial district): This industrial wasteland was once home to the best resource-production companies in the world, aswell as the world's last Coal-production company: ''ColeCoalCo'' it's giant building, aswell as billboard, haunts the landscape as a reminded of humanities destruction.
  • Vale Commerical (commercial district): Once home to the huge Vale-Mall, this Mall has now been mostly destroyed by war, famine and apocalypse.
  • Valerail (rail district): It was once connected to the famous Vaeia City through both subway and train-rail, but now, it's a saddening reminder, that once upon a time, humans didn't have to walk everyone, or ride on pigs.
As for a release, well, I'm starting school relatively soon (on the 30th actually). So, the only time I'll get to work on the map will be on Fridays, every second Thursday and the weekends, so right now I'm going to work for a playable map for the 20th of October, 2012.
Screenshots:
One thing about the following, the way I decided to build this map, was to build it how it would look before this ''apocalyptic'' war. Then the last thing I'd do would be add the final decorations, before demolishing parts, adding rubble, vines, etc.

As of right now, my internet connection has been quite slow, so uploading screenshots has been problematic, for now they are going to stay in ''attached files'' instead of being present in this thread, hopefully my speeds will be back tomorrow, but for now, this is what I got. Everything you see is subject to change, likely will change in some way and if you're wondering why the terrain is very barren, it's because the trees are the last things I'm going to be doing (apart from the park)

This is a cool concept, but the cornucopia looks almost a little bland.

I agree completely, you see when this screenshot was capped, I didn't have any hedging, nor did I have tall grass. But earlier this morning I edited it a bit and put edging around the sort of entrance to the garden part of the corn.. people will also need to break through to the corn, like SG2, there'll be an updated screenshot later..
