Terraforming help

Hey there!

When it comes to terraforming, i'm a bit of a noob... I've tried to watch tutorials on VoxelSniper/WorldEdit but can never find the help i'm looking for. My question is; how do I make flat land look natural without adding huge mountains?

This had been bugging me a lot as I've been building a map for a while and have tested a lot of things. If anyone could send me to helpful tutorials that would be fantastic!

To do really flat land, I use a cylender brush instead of a shpere brush, then smarten up the edges by hand. But, that's just the way ive decided to do, I'm sure there are much simpler ways out there.
